So i have a siberian husky, I was not smart and didn't really socialize him with many dogs when he was a puppy (he is now 3 years old) and i decided to take him to the dog park with my other 2 dogs for the second time today. he seems to be showing some aggression towards big, dominant dogs. he growls at them. he doesn't seem to have many problems with calm, submissive dogs but the dominant ones are causing a problem. how can i fix this so he can be off leash and play with the other dogs?

Like I've said before, there's a lot of "play" body language that looks like aggression. I'm not saying that that's what your dog is doing, but what I AM saying is that there's not a lot we can tell you without actually having witnessed your dog doing this behavior.

Some general advice about dog parks, though - you want to make sure that your dog will come to you when called no matter what he's doing. So be sure that you have a lot of REALLY yummy treats ready, and be sure that you've practiced come with heavy distractions before you get to the park. This will help you not only when you think your dog is causing a problem, but also if other dogs start to play too rough or fight and you want to get your dog out of there. Also, you should probably do a lot of "breaks" - call him to you several times throughout the play time, when he's playing with other dogs and when he's just off by himself.

BTW - have you started those puppy classes with your puppy?? How's that going??

he doesn't have a reliable recall :(. nothing really motivates him to stop something he wants to do. food, praise, toys, nothing matters to him.

haven't started the puppy classes yet, her class isn't till april 28th but i'm excited :D

    Yay puppy classes!

I'd probably never bring a dog to a dog park and let him off leash if he doesn't have a reliable recall. Maybe in your puppy class (or searching some of these threads) you can get some advice on how to build a recall.

The best way I know of to build re-call is to go and get a 34-40ft lunge line likeat a feed and tack store. Hook your dog up and let him go call him if he doesn't come reel him in. Praise until you feel stupid and then let him go again. I keep doing this until my dog comes every time without any tugging on the line at all.

IMO Huskys can and will be tempermental I would not take him to a dog park. I would try to find a special place and let him have some free time.

Of course they do. I have a friend who does agility with her husky, talk about a recall!
