Dog acting weird

My dog Cali has been acting weird around other dogs. She starts to cry and whine when she see's another dog. She will even cry when we take her for a walk and she knows were the dogs live but their not out, she seems to cry and whine alot around other dogs. These dogs are behind fenced yards.
Im confused because I think she might want to bark at them

It's probably one of two things: either she's been frightened by a dog, which is unlikely since you supervise her so well, or she really, really wants to play.

This is assuming she's been spayed. If she hasn't, she may be getting ready to come into season. If that's the case, you might really want to seriously consider that trip to the vet - a female in season is NO FUN for anyone involved. Shiva just went through her cycle again . . . AAARRRRGGHHHH! I don't know which one of us ends up crazier; Shiva, Bimmer or me?~!

when does a female dog go through her cycle? as in how old does she start?

Some females can go through their first cycle as young as 6 months old or so; others may be almost a year old before it happens - just like human females. It's about as much fun, too.

Believe me, if we weren't so serious about wanting to develop our own "perfect" working Filas, these girls would be spayed!

Bishop does the same whining thing. It's because he wants to play. I was really concerned about it at first, but when I realized that he was doing it because he wanted to play, I found it it be fairly cute...he's so old and it reminds me of his pup years.

Oh, enjoy that. It's pretty much the same deal as with humans, just messy, depending on the size of your dog. They sell doggy diapers and this may be a time when you want them! I've never had an unspayed or unneautered dog, but my Grandparents used to have an unspayed Great Dane. It wasn't much fun.

Oh, it's more than messy. That's actually the easy part, even with these Monsters. The hard part is all the hormonal stuff and the doggy PMS. They whine, they cry, they get needy, they're starving, they won't eat, they alternately want to be close to the other dogs, but they get snarky if the other dog approaches them. And that's just with other females! It's a real hassle keeping the girls and boys separated. And in the midst of all the craziness, you look in their eyes and you can see that they have no idea what's happening to them and their own behaviour is somewhat frightening to them and it just breaks your heart trying to comfort them.
