Thor had an accident in the crate today! He is generally REALLY good about kennel training, but he went #2 in there today, and I am afraid that this could be a MAJOR set-back in our training! is this true?

I kennel him at 7:45am. went home for lunch at 11:00, let him out, he ate, drank went #1 and 2, and when I left for work I put his water and a peice of frozen meaty bone in there with him. I went back at 2pm to get him to bring to work with me, and he had soiled his crate. Is this going to be a big setback in our training, or will he chalk it up to an accident? OFC when I get home it will be throughly scrubbed to ensure that he is not staying in the kennel while it is dirty, but (as I am sure you can tell) I am extremly concerned about further ramifications.

Thank you for your time and input

Can't answer the #2 issue. Unless the puppy isn't feeling well.

Typically-the size of the crate is what ends up being the issue. How big a dog do you have and what size crate are you using?

Initially, we borrowed a crate for Tugger that was much too large (my Boss has his full size Boxer in it!). Tugger (the 13" Beagle puppy!) would sleep on one end and pee on the other. Tugger is now 18 pounds. We ended up getting a small 18X24 inch crate ...and his pillow to sleep on fills the bottom of the crate--and there's only enough room in there for him to stand up and turn around. There's plenty of room for him to sleep and lie down, sit and stretch.

Also--....to prevent this from happening again...Nature's Miracle will take away the smell that they have defecated on so they won't repeat the offense. Simple soap and water won't take away the scent.
