If Lancer only had normal, longer, neat, adult Aussie coat... He can probably walk into a conformation ring with me and won't get weird side-eyes and snarls. And I probably won't be asked, "What are you doing here?" But as he is now, he has the most bizarre short and fuzzy messy puppy coat all over his body that just never went away, except for on his legs. But I believe his body structure is actually decent!

He doesn't have that blunt, wedgey head for conformation though. His head is longer and more narrow. :s Ah Lancer.

And as far as show line temperament...? Nah. Just nah.

Yes, both of mine are.

Watson has his championship, so he does conform to the physical breed standard as far as that goes. He has some minor issues and things I would improve (eyes too round, tail set too high, ears possibly set too high) but otherwise I think he's a really nice looking dog. Height and weight standard are loose, but compared to other Welshies he is slightly tall and skinny. He tends towards elegant rather than round and spanielly. But then everybody says Welshies aren't done growing until 5+ years old, so he may continue to fill out beyond 3 years old. Temperamentally he fits the standard pretty well. He is friendly but reserved with strangers, birdy/high prey drive, high energy outside but calm inside, velcro and loves his people, always happy.

Still waiting to see with Hazel. Overall she fits the standard pretty well, but I'm not sure if I'll get her championship. It's harder for a female and I don't think she's quite as nice as Watson. I don't like confo enough to keep doing it if she's not winning easily and I don't have any plans to breed her. Mostly she is too lightly built and her tail is set on really high, but I think the basic structural stuff is pretty good. Temperament is hard to say because she's a puppy, but she's fun, happy, velcro, and interested in critters so she's on her way.

Kep and Gael absolutely not, they are ISDS parentage border collies (although also NZ kennel club registered). They are leggy, have a medium length coat, not to mention Kep has two (gorgeous!) up ears and Gael has one up and one sideways.

Scout does meet standard and in fact has done one weekend of champ breed shows a couple of years ago. The first day I realised it was way outside my comfort zone (as she is a hunting dog, it was weird for me to see "gundogs" being judged as the best of their breed when I doubt many, if any, had been used for hunting and most of their coats were completely unsuitable anyway) but she got a CC. The second day the North American judge told me she was a "disqualified colour" for Brittany, which I guess she is *in America*....but last time I checked we don't live there and he is meant to know the standard of the country he is judging in. I didn't argue with him because I do competitive sports and in those you don't argue with the judges decision. But the way he went about it was very loud and embarrassing like I had personally offended him by showing her :( that was the end of me and breed shows...
