I don't think she looks mean. She looks cuddly to me! I get the same thing with our Doom... "OMG HE LOOKS SO MEAN!" When I take him to work with me, people are always like "Can you put that one in a cage before I give you my dog?" It makes me sooooo mad, because he's ridiculously sweet. Like Spanky, you could pick him up and throw him into a brick wall and he'd come back and give you kisses and let you do it again.

Really, I think the only dogs that look mean are Schnauzers with their eyebrows cut wrong! LoL (Schnauzers don't normally look mean to me, but I guess there are a lot of people who would disagree.

I always ask people "Is your dog friendly?" when I am walking my dogs. I think they are pretty sure I mean because I am walking my dog not because I am afraid of their larger dog.

Chloe has intense eyes, and those say a lot to people.

I don't think she looks scary. She might be kind of a big girl (how tall is she?) and most people think the bigger dogs are always the "mean" ones.

Well, she looks like a 'big mutt' and many people take that to mean a mean dog. Ridicious, but hey . . . Sarama looks vicious, you know . . .like a wolf.

Not with those boots on :) IF your worried about it tie a bandana around her neck..why that makes people respond differently i don't know but it did with Bronki at City market. Put one on her with smilie faces.;)

Chloe just looks strong and healthy and has that Mona Lisa smile. Maybe that's the problem, people think she is sneering at them because she looks like she knows something they don't. Combine the smile with her confident stance and she makes people nervous, I guess.

She's got an intense look to her most of the time and since most people are used to big goofy floppy labs, that could be interpreted as "mean" I guess. I like the way she looks though!
^^ Agreed. Or it might be that most peopel can tell she's a "shepherd" and then people get scared. Lizzie's the same way, most people think she's a rottie. LOL.

I know ;)

Im guessing its physical, Although she can look a little intense sometimes...but its nothing more than that, she never runs up to people or jumps on them or anything, she always stays by me...and minds her own business
Jess, I think this behavior is what confuses people...they think all dogs should wag their tails in excitment upon seeing them! I swear some people LIKE having a dog jump on them --they think it means the dog likes them!
be happy Chloe is well behaved--and just tell them that she's not mean, she is just well trained!! :p

I don't think she looks mean either. She reminds me alot of our Carey, although she was quite a bit heavier. I think it is just because she is a big mixed breed. I think that's also why people never approach me to pet Gracie, because she's colored like a rottie. It's just another stereotype. If she was a little purebred dog, you couldn't beat them off with a stick.

 I can't imagine people saying she looks mean.

(unless they've seen her climbing the fence for squirrels! hahaha)

I think she needs to wear some @ss kickin boots next time you go to petsmart! Then if they make a comment.........she can USE them! :D
