I have a female leopard gecko named Tammy. I don't really handle her though as I'm sure she does not actually enjoy it. It's fun to watch her eat, she reminds me of a cat when she locks on to her prey.

Oh and here are some pictures (sorry about the poop)

I've heard that chameleons are very hard to keep and finicky. Other than that I don't know about any specific reptiles!

I have a 5 foot Black Rat Snake ("John") and a 1.5 foot Ball Python ("Nora").

They're both extremely friendly and I love them both.

my sister has 2 blue tongues. they are actually quite simple to keep once you get the tank set up. and they get a lot of time out with us and are really sweet little things.

i worry constantly that we arn't providing them with a great life as they are the first reptiles this family has ever had and its hard to see what they're thinking due to no facial expressions. they definetly have their distinct personalities though and have relaly come out of their shell now a couple of motnhs after we got them.

i don't have any pics of our 2 but heres a general pic form the net

my sister wants a childrens python next. i love her reptiles but I'm more into fish.

i used to be a zoo keeper,i was manager of the place, training staff, tour guide, and animal career of over 400 animals, the reptiles i used to do a bit of everything as i did the other animals. and i had the reptile keeper job dumped on me when the guy who feeds left then the girl who cleaned them left.

they had a 6 ft aligator, a 15ft burmese python, 6 boas ranging from 8ft to 14ft in a large room. a box turtle, a sulcarter tortorse as well as some 20-30 small ones?

2 blue tongued skinks, several water dragons, one was mine named lucky, i rescued her, nothing but skin and bones, i saved her by feeding her pieces of dead day old chicks. around 10 bearded dragons, a plated lizard, geckos of all types, huge spiders, milipeedes. giant snails, 30 or so corn snakes, 6 baby boas, 3 royal pythons, 2 mine, cali king snakes, mexi black king snakes, a garter snake, bull snake very evil! 2 monitor lizards, my babys!

i cant think of anything else???

it took alot to feed, clean and update tanks and handle them all! geez!

i would love to do it again

I've had bearded dragons, a crested gecko and a mossy leaf-tail gecko.

I don't recommend the mossy unless you have reptile experience. They're really, really cool, but not at all tame and fragile on top of it.

The dragons required a fair ammount of money to set up, but they were fun to have, surprisingly intelligent, and happy to sit on my lap and be stroked (you can't exactly call it petting).

The crested gecko is possibly the easiest to keep pet I've ever had and he's really cute. The downside is that he shows no attachment to me: he will let himself be handled, but really doesn't care less. He will jump to me if he feels alarmed, make of that what you will.

Reptiles are really fun, though. They're interesting and different.

If you do get one make sure there is a reptile vet nearby you can work with, and find one BEFORE you get your pet.

I can't say much on the topic of snakes: I have never had one except for a garter I had as a kid.

Was it sort of bluish with reddish spots? That would be a Tokay, and they are notorious for making crocodiles look friendly!

bahaha. best description of a tokay EVER.

I've got a beardie and two corn snakes. Want a black tree monitor SO BAD but don't have the money or room. I'd also really like a dart frog, but they're pretty fragile, i'm afraid i'd kill it, maybe with a little more experience in the amphibian department.

I don't think I've ever met anyone who actually liked Tokays. Some fanciers breed them for color and color variants, but that's more aesthetic pleasure than liking IMHO. Also, some people in warm climates turn them loose in the house for pest control, which they are appearently very good at. Most people who actually know reptiles wouldn't keep one as a pet. The only reason they are still big in the pet trade is that they are hardy as hell, colorful and prolific . . . and there's always one more sucker who doesn't know how nasty they are.

I have a big old black snake that lives in my shed out back. I say HI to him every time I go out to get the mower! LOL! And he keeps the mice out of the shed for me.

.. i'd get a tokay, i think. I know they're nasty, but i wouldn't be getting it for the cuddly factor. I'd be getting it for the pretty to look at, fun to watch factor.

Then again, this is coming from someone who wants a black tree monitor. And they're notorious for being the nastiest monitors around.

Well, I can see the aesthetic pleasure in them; they are neat looking. I just dislike having anything around that I can't handle easily if need be, both for practical reasons, and because I really can't feel to much fondness for something that obviously loathes me. It doesn't have to like me, but trying to take off my fingers is something I don't appriciate :D My mossy leaf-tail could be snappy, but she wasn't all-out aggressive . . . more like half-wild . . . if you approached her really slow and picked her up gently, she was ok. Every Tokay that I've met had murder on its little pea-sized brain . . . .
