Hi there, I'm a keen runner and I like to take my dogs out with me. It's good exercise for them, and I feel a bit safer being a lone female jogger if I have one of them with me.

I also dabble in photography, work part time as a veterinarian and homeschool two children. Life is never peaceful :)

Does anyone else like to run with their dog?

Hi.

No, I'm not a runner. I have taken my dog out with me to jog/walk because I occasionally get a notion that I'm going to try to start running. My daughter started to lose baby weight after having a baby. It was a chore for her, and now it has become something she looks forward to. I can't imagine that, but sometimes I think I'm going to try it. My dog loves it when I jog/walk. He could probably straight-out run without much trouble.

Right now, my dog is recovering from ACL surgery, so no running in the foreseeable future anyway.

I run with mine. I trained the learn to run program with Smudge. He now does 5-6 km with me 3x a week.

I don't run with mine, I bike :) Before it got into the ninties with almost 100% humidity everyday for the last two months I was doing around a little under 10K *6-7 miles* 5 days a week and loved it!

We're starting back up now that the weather is nice and working our way back up to that

I would, but my girl is getting older, and doesn't have much stamina anyway. I am looking for another dog though, because I would love it. I'm not allowed to go running by myself.

My husband bikes with ours. He bought the walky dog & harness. I don't trust myself with it, I'm clumsy and don't want to drag the dog down the street.
Dog likes it though and it tires him out which is good for all of us.

Junior and I run about 2 miles 5 days a week. We are building up to 5k (I got out of shape when I went on vacation)

No.
I tried (started really slow and short) and Frodo really just wants to sniff and pee. Running makes those things harder and therefore, he brings teh woe on our runs :p

I can go longer and faster without him. Sadly, so can Mollie, but I'm not willing to put that kind of stress on her old body.

I'm really one of those douchecanoe spammers, only I'm even dumber than the average bot, since I believe people are going to click on my blind links  Oh, and I also believe in these.

Wow now that sounds like a full time schedule. I'm not a runner either, though I would like to be. I totally agree with you about taking a dog, whenever I tried getting into the whole running thing I'd always take one of my dogs along to. I"m afraid my dog is getting to old for any activities like that, so instead I've thought about getting one of those bike doggie trailers and going for bike rides with him instead. Maybe next spring I'll give it a try.

First, Renee your editing of that post is superb.

Now to the OP, no I don't, but I wish someone WOULD run my dogs for me! There is a service near where I used to live that does dog running, not dog walking, and I just WISH they serviced my town. Ah well.

Some dogs may be good runners but, like you, they are also dumb barstewards and will probably end up under your wheels... hope it hurts when it happens (for you that is!). I give up! The human race really is dumbing down.
WTF. Really WTF. People are talking about RUNNING with dogs. Not biking. RUNNING. People exercising their dogs are not idiots. Those who lack reading skills and post on forums anyhow might be though.

Yah, not that much though, just twice or thrice a month because of my busy sked. It's hard to keep up with them because dogs are usually in shape all the time. Not like us, just miss a week or so, then you will have problem in cardio already...

Oh I would so hire them if they were near me. Brilliant business idea. :)

I can't run(bad knees, hips, ankles...), so yea...running with mine isn't doable.

Yeah I'm trying to figure out how to start up this company in my area without actually doing any of it myself (bad back, hips, knees, and now an ankle that's been in a brace for 4 months and I am starting to think I might have actually broken . . .).
