As an avid cook, I love watching the Food Network. They have some pretty neat shows on there. My favorites are Alton Brown and Iron Chef (the Japanese version).

I don't like the Barefoot Contessa. I didn't think was possible to use three pounds of butter in every single thing you make. She's the only person I know of who can make a salad look unhealthy. Yuck. I can feel my arteries hardening just watching her show.

Anybody else watch?

Haha, I love Barefoot Contessa. :p Most of the stuff she makes I would never eat, but I like the show.

And I also love that southern Paula lol...adds butter to *everything* and I love the way she says 'oil' lol.

The one that I absolutely can't stand is Semi-Homemade w/...whatever her name is. And I find it kind of creepy that her kitchen always matches her clothes. :lol-sign:

I love Rachel Ray's 30 minute meals, and the Unwrapped with Mark Sommers, is it? I am so interested in how things are processed/made. There is just something neat about the big factories and equipment that make Hershey's kisses, or Jawbreakers...etc We do not have any neato factories around here...food wise. I guess Wells Blue Bunny (ice cream) is down in Le Mars Iowa...but that's some distance away.

 :D

I like Iron Chef too. And there is a funny asian guy that has his own show but I can't remember what it's called. There's a little Italian lady who drives me nuts. I don't know what it is about her. How she moves. How she talks. Her slightly large head! I don't know but I can't watch her. She has a book out too. I'm going to see if I can find her name.

I'm glad I'm not the only Good Eats fan on here! Got it paused right now as I type this. :p Is it nuts for me to say I stood in line for 5 hours to meet Alton? :lol-sign:

Alton Brown and Unwrapped are my two favorites, but I'll watch Ham on the Street sometimes and the occasional Bobby Flay "this is my umpteeth spinoff because I practically own Food Network" special show.

YOU MET ALTON BROWN! How cool is that... I have every episode he's made seasons 1 to 7... saved... Cant say I've watched them all. I also cant say I use his recipies. He's taught me so much more than " 30 minutes at 400' " He's taught me HOW and WHY and WHAT, so that I can cook just whatever...

Yea the italian lady... its her mouth... her mouth (ESPECIALLY HER SMILE) is about 4 times as big as it should be. she's like a slimy used car salesman crossed with the chechire cat from alice and wonderland... which is unnerving.

I enjoy watching paula occasionally she's like everyones grandma, and its just enjoyable to partake in her exuberance.

Rachel ray is... well... sometimes shes fun, and sometimes shes.... annoying...

But I always have time tor an episode of good eats... Feasting on asphault was pretty good too... Like when he stops and makes a REALLY fresh kudzu salad, or when he gave up on extracting honey from the beehive :D

good times

Ahhh..... yes the culinary arts, or more appropriately, culinary chemistry, is a passion of mine. Time allowing, the Food Network is always a joy to watch, except for Rachel Ray & Emeril, who are so obnoxious in speech and manner that they grate my nerves!!! Though I'm a low fat fellow, Paula Dean, is always a pleasure; from her personality to her table fare just makes one HUNGRY!!!! Then there's Giada de Laurentis, :hail: :hail: :hail: , da*n this boy has a crush for her...did I mention her cooking? She is indeed a great chef, and well, she is a babe and could be my fiancees' twin sister from appearance to mannerisms....did I mention her cooking? Another chef I enjoy watching is Lydia's Kitchen on PBS, my-oh-my, her culinary offerings are absolutely astounding!!!

If you have the More Food cook book of his (the baking one), which I'm hoping you do, cause its the best baking book I've found yet, try the oatmeal cookies in there! I made the mistake of making them once, and now everyone wants some of those oatmeal cookies! I put in Choc. chips instead of raisins...yummy!
This Thanksgiving, I made the pie crust in there too, move over Mrs. Smith, you've got some competition now. :lol-sign:
I havent used any recipies from the show yet. I'll watch a show, think "Ohhh, that would taste good!" Mean to write down the show, so I can find the recipe later, and forget to. And after seeing 100+ episodes, recipies and shows kinda tend to run together, lol.
