Ok so Maya had her ears cropped a while back and we are 12 days into the taping posting part... we took the forms and tape off today and her ears are already standing! only problem is that her right ear stands perfectly but the other leans forward and inward when relaxed... when she is paying attention or playingthey stand perfectly upright... (I know that i will need to do more taping but she had been without forms and tape for about an hour now and they still stand, not droopy) any insight as to what is going on/ what to do to correct it would be greatly appreciated. (I wish I could get a picture for you but the camera is no where to be found)

Also my next question is when we have her out with the family she is really hyper and after a while she likes to jump up on my and bite my shirt and play tug-o-war with my shirt... I always get one of her chew toys and tell her "Drop it" (meaning my shirt) and try and get her to play with her chew toy instead... but she will get her chew toy and drop it and jump up and get my shirt again... What am I doing wrong and how do I correct this problem?

we are working on sit and it is going good... she sits about 90% of the time when I lure her with a treat. but we can only do it about three times before she starts jumping and biting my shirt.

PLEASE I need some advice!

Posting ears in Dobes can and often does continue until 6 months of age or older. Be persistent. If you let them down and let them start going the wrong way, it can be hard to correct.

For behavior issues, USE A LEASH, and prevent the dog doing what you do not prefer.

Puppy class is a very good idea as soon as you can get into one.

They'll do that....stand for a little bit. Don't think they're finished. There is no way they're finished. Keep posting. It will be months most likely. Don't let that cartilege struggle all by itself to stand or it will break down and you'll have a much more difficult time. Keep posting. Lyric's ears weren't sturdy and standing until he was 11 months old. That was a little longer than some take...they all vary. But you just had this done so there's no way you should stop posting.

Intercept that jumping BEFORE she does it. Tell her to sit. Don't let anyone pay attention to her, not even telling her to get off. No attention until she sits. Be consistant. Plenty of exercise, don't forget.

well she gets plenty of excersize... we have a huge 20x20 foot kennel and she gets to go out there and run for about an hour at a time three to four times a day (it is not an option to walk her on a leash becuase it's really muddy between our side walk and the road (we have a long gravel driveway that is pure mud at this time of year)

Also I didnt think her ears were done posting I took the tape and post off yesterday evening and she goes to the vet today in about 2 hours.

Her behavior thing is that after a while of being out with the rest of the family (she is on her leash the entire time she is out) she will jump up on me (no matter what I do) and bite onto my arm or my shirt and thing she can play tug-o-war with me... and the only way I can get her to let go is to Yelp loudly and offer her another toy and say "Drop It" and she will let go of me and get her toy... But then she will drop her toy immediatly and get my ****/arm/ or leg again... Finally I just give up and take her outside to potty and then put her in her kennel for a while... then we try again later and she is fine for about 10 to 15 minutes and then she starts the whole biting thing all over again...

On the plus side she is getting good at "Sit" as soon as I take the treat out of the bag and make the hand signal she plops her butt down... sometimes she doesnt even give me time to say "Sit"
haha a few times she would see me reach for the bag and she would instantly plop her butt down... if she does that I get the treat out and wait for her to stand up again then I give the hand signal and say "Sit". Also I dont have to make my hand signal as close to her nose as before... I can make the signal a good foor above her nose now and she will plop down and stare at my hand....
Sometimes I make her stay in the sit position for up to 30 secnds before i give her the treat.... Am I doing this all right or is there something I could do to improve?

ok just got back from the vet... Doc says that her ears are looking great... he did put a different type of taping thing on her ears to make them go outward more... he said that her ears "Broke" a little to much... we go back thursday to get the new taping stuff off and we will see where we sit then (pardon the pun).

Also we showed the vet Maya's "Sit" and he was really impressed... (so was I) there was a cocker spaniel in the waiting area and I told Maya to "Sit" and she sat right by my leg and only tried to get up twice!

Puppy obediance class starts April 2nd and unfortunatly we will be out of town from march 29th untill the 3rd and Maya will be camping out at the vet during that time.. so I talked to the trainer and she said that we will work something out where she will either come to my house and we will go to her house when we come back and before the next class so that she can get us caught up.

Another thing is that I was going to buy a bag of dog food while I was there becuase I cant buy it anywhere else in town and they are currently out of it so they had to order it and we will pick it up thursday but they are going to give me 3 dollars off and on top of that I have a coupon for 3 dollars off..(they said they would match my coupon) I do have enough to last untill thursday so I think I am getting a good deal.

Basically I am just happy becuase it was a good vet visit...

I am going to search for my camera to get some pictures of this tape-job becuase it is hilarious! She has a piece of tape going from one ear to the other but it goes under her chin and then the ears are taped around some rolled up gauze squares and then to make sure the ears dont droop she has a piece of tape going across on top of her head.... the vet named it "the flying nun" tape job.... lol
