Shelties are my favorites, closely followed by all other pointy-nosed dogs, especially those with lots of fur. I like pit bulls a lot, but I'll never have one of them nor any other terrier. After teaching so many years in an inner-city middle school, I want to live with something soft, easy, and biddable. OK, so now I'm living with a Chow/Lab mix and a Borzoi/boxer/lab/spaniel zoomer. Your point?

i like standard poodles a lot also, but again, bigger than i want (and i'm not sure if they're drivey enough for my taste).

i'd like to meet more tollers.
my mom's is only about 22-23" at the shoulder, and 50 - 55lbs depending on how much my mother is feeding her ;) is that still too big? I'm not sure about finding a drivey one, but if you ever consider one in the future, look into the Alekai lines - Cleo's mother was slightly smaller than she is, I think (which may have something to do with Cle being spayed right at 6 months).

Of the breeds that I like, I don't know if I've really met enough for me to determine if they suit me. Boxers are the only thing I can say suit me for sure since I've been surrounded by them the past 12 years.

I love Aussies and BCs and the ones that I've met have been lovely dogs that I would certainly enjoy owning... however you hear such horror stories about the herding breeds haha and all I can ever do is imagine how much work must have went into those dogs to make them so good. Juno is a high-energy PITA so on one hand I think I could handle a BC/Aussie, but then I think they're probably 100x more difficult than Juno on even her worst days... blah, I need to meet more.

Newfies, Corgis, and Berger Picards I really have no idea about... especially the Picards. I've seen Newfies and Corgis at the dog park before but I don't think I'll be stumbling across any Picards anytime soon.

And Pomeranians. I could handle a fluffy little Pom. :D

My favorite breeds are: The chihuahua, German shepherds, Papillons, Dobes and Aussies.

now. Chis and Papillons suit me quite well, im an active person and I like the lil ones. and they are perfect for traveling and my apartment

as for the others, I love them :) but they dont really suit me.I travel a lot, I live in an apartment. those dogs will be better suited for me later on in life :)

Another breed i love but will NEVER have, the husky :) I couldnt handle the energy level or the shedding

but wow they are so pretty! Lol

Having had a Golden since 1949 I'll never stray far from the breed whether mixed or pure / I know them and they seem to know me .

Haha it's funny you say that. I grew up with pretty much all herders and I find them to be pretty simple for the most part. Now boxers have way too much energy for my taste! I've worked with 3 pretty extensively at the shelter, sweet sweet dogs and such goofs but they're definitely too much for me.

I think Cardigans suit me PERFECTLY... it's kind of ridiculous. I have the temperament of one, and the energy level, and the sense of humor. :p They fit me extremely well. I want one as my next dog, if not a Smooth Collie.

It's strange because Border Collies do not fit me. They are much higher energy than me. I am a calm, laid back type, not type A like Border Collies! D; But I fit them surprisingly well. Gonzo has taught me so much about myself and dogs. I have a way with them, as far as keeping them focused and calm. When my friend works with her BC in a frantic and impatient manner, she is spazzy/all over the place/jumping up on her and losing focus. When I work with her, she picks up on my energy and calms down completely. I find that I have to adjust in working with Fozzie and other laid back dogs, because I'm soooo used to having to be super calm and keeping the intensity to a manageable level.

Juno, if you can handle Boxers, I would think you'd easily handle Border Collies. Both are energetic working dogs, but in different ways. Border Collies are controlled and focused with their energy, while Boxers are bouncy and super exhuberant about it. I often find my patience/skills tested working with Boxers, and they are up there with BCs in intelligence!

Well this is good to hear haha. I was just talking to someone at the dog park the other day who had a BC pup that's a little under a year old. I was asking her what their energy is like and if it drives you nuts... she said her dog definitely keeps her busy and forces her to get out and do things, but then she added that she thinks boxers are kind of the same way, as far as how much energy they have.

Border Collies are controlled and focused with their energy, while Boxers are bouncy and super exhuberant about it.
That's an interesting way to put it because I've never really thought about HOW the energy presents itself. Which is probably more important than just paying attention to how much they have.
