Seems like so many people have a favourite breed, but don't own it and never will for various reasons. For instance, My mom *loves* Danes, always has ever since she was about 5 and would have several of them if it weren't for my Dad. As long as she's with him, she'll never have one...I don't know what I'd do if I knew I could never, ever have a Toller. I love dogs, don't get me wrong, but I *much* prefer Tollers to most other breeds. So, do you own your favourite breed? or will you own your favourite breed someday?

I own a Border Collie and plan to own a Doberman Pinscher in the future. The Fila Brasileiro is a breed that I adore but that will most likely be tougher to acquire while I am living with my parents.

Well I have my doberman I have wanted since I was 3. I would love a pit but my parents hate them. Since I take my dogs to my parents alot and the pittie wouldnt be welcome it's just not plausable.

I will always, always, always, always, ALWAYS have a lab. People say, "Oh, they're so popular." so what? They are the most amazing dogs. They are so loyal and so sweet....they're so angelic. It amazes me how sweet these dogs are.

I've always wanted a Bedlington ... but they're so expensive, I just can't afford one. But that's ok! There are plenty of pound puppies and purebreds out there I can afford that need good homes. Maybe some day I can afford a Bedlington, til' then though ... (Scratches little Kairi behind the ears.)

I already have my favorite breed, but I also have A LOT of other favorite breeds. If my next dog can't be an ACD it would probably be a Boxer, Rottie, Kelpie, Collie, Belgian Sheepdog...Umm, I'll stop now, lol.

I own 2 german shepherds and a Doberman. Both wonderful breeds. I also recently fell in love with rotties. I also like bully breeds keeping th cane corso and dogo argentino in mind.

Yanya- I had a Bedlington growing up! We got him because I used to have allergies. He lived for over 15 years, and was a wonderful pet who adapted so well to all the changes in his life as we grew up. I don't know if I'd have another because of the grooming issues, but otherwise, I can't say enough good things about them!

As for the original post, I'm not sure I'll ever own any of my favorite breeds. My first choice would be a Staffie, because I adore their look and temperment with people, but the BSL scares me off. I also love various sight hounds (whippet, IG's and Pharoah hounds especially), but since I'm an outdoor horse person, I need dogs that are good off leash.

Adding a picture of Medley, my late Bedlington.

I truly love all breeds, but I have to say that my favorite is a "mixed"! I would like to have another german shepherd one day, though. I had one as a young and just loved him. He was a great dog and I have never forgotten him.

I really want a dalmatian! I think they fit perfict with my personality! hyper, friendly, always ready to go somewhere! My cousin had one (which she names after me because she said it reminded her of myself...lol) I loved that dog, but she was deaf. I remember when she moved, she was going to give her to me. But it didn't work out that well, We brought her home for 2 weeks to see how she would be...it couldn't have gone worse! She was very dominate, and we had three dogs already, one of which was also very dominate. And she got out of the house a lot, and we live next to a busy street, and she was deaf so those things don't mix well...:(... she also showed her teeth to my sister, i told my mom she was just smiling :D..but she didn't beleive me. But I'm kinda glad that we gave her to the fire department :), cuz then I would have never got to own sammy! Also she could have gotten hit by a car, with would have sucked!

My favourite is the Neapolitan Mastiff. I really have my heart set on owning one someday. I don't know if it will happen though. I have a lot of favourites but the Neo is the only one that I'm desperate to add to my family. I think I'll be really disappointed if I never end up getting one. :(

I've never owned any of my favourite breeds. Growing up I wanted a Yorkie, a Rottweiler, a German Shepherd Dog and a Bull Terrier. The closest I got was the Bull Terrier who lived across the street that I use to play with.

Having said that, I'm extremely happy with the dogs I have had and especially my current boy. :) So it's not all bad.

Cass.

One day I would like to own a purebred Border collie. I also would like a lab, german shepherd, beagle, or australian shepherd. :) I have never had any of these purebreds, but I am extremely happy with my dogs, and if it is my choice, my next dog will be a pound pup, and I will judge him/her on the personality instead of the breed.

So far my favorite breed is the boxer, and I have one! And I always will. As I get experience with other breeds maybe I'll get a new favorite. I really, really like Aussies and have wanted one for a few years, so they are definitely at the top of my list for future dogs. So I don't know if they are my favorite...but I WILL own one someday!
