I have loved Shar Pei my whole life!!
So my first dog absolutely had to be a Shar Pei and that it was. Chloe was a perfect first dog, very obedient, calm, and I didn't have to teach her much - she's a quick learner. And now I have a second Shar Pei and I will never live without at least one. They are definitly my heart breed !!

APBT are my breed of choice. I have had many dogs come and go in my life but there is something about the APBT that does something to my heart and soul.

Cocker spanies - yes, I've got them. Cocoa is the most perfect dog I could ask for. There's not a bad thing I could say about her. I'm not sure another dog would ever be able to live up to her, but in general I just still really love cockers.

Yes I do...but there are so many breeds I could fall in love with.

I always thought poodles were the best, the only dog I would ever have... Armani basically fell in my lap and now I would never be without a yorkie again although I still ADORE poodles.

GSDs. definitely, i did not know what true loyalty was until I had one. They really are, in my eyes, the most perfect dog in every day from working ability, personality, pets, ect..
the only downside is the shedding, but no one breed of dog can be COMPLETELY PERFECT lol I hope to have a male one day

I would also love a Papillion, ive loved them since my grandmother had one when i was very little. except his ears were down, he was a "phalene", but both his parents were paps. id say that he was my <3 breed also

I have never had a dane before, but I am very fond of the breed and while I CAN wait to get one (because it would then mean that one of my current dogs is gone :( ) I also can't wait to have that experience of owning one. If you catch my drift. :p They are such majestic creatures... I love them.

As far as any animals having my heart though... all three have mine, Buddy especially. So I will always, always have a mutt. :)

All my dogs have my heart, but as far as a specific *breed* that just melts my heart, it's definitely beagles. I love beagles, and I love everything about beagles. They are one breed of dog that I will ALWAYS have at least one of in the house. :D

Boxers are absolutely my heart breed. I can't imagine ever being without one (or two) again. My husband wanted to get a GSD eventually, but the last time I asked him, he said he might just want another boxer, so I'm swaying him as well. Oddly enough, Maya (my beagle mix) is more my dog, and Murphy is more my husbands, but Boxers are still my breed.

I wouldn't say I have a "heart breed" but I definitely have two favorites.. and no, I don't own a Dobe or a Greyhound. I wish.

I don't know what my heart breed is, because I know it's not Sheltie, Mini Aussie, Great Dane, or GSD, and those are the only breeds I've lived with. Don't get me wrong, I love Zoey, and Bella, and Sasha, but I wont own another GSD, because I love Bella for BELLA. And I wont own another Mini Aussie, too small for me, but I love Zozo, and Danes are just what I was raised with, too big for me, and not able to do enough (Can't do agility with them here, cause they're so friggen big they break equipment in the winter!)....

I do think my 'heart breed' may be Border Collies, but until I own one, I wont know. I do know that Goldens are a possible heart breed, too... I love border collies and goldens!

Tough question as I think I am an evolving person. I can't really image bonding any more closely with any other dog or breed but I do wish Sal (or Athena in her day) had a better work ethic and drive. This is a breeding thing for the most part and not a breed thing.

As far as a companion Sal and Athena are unrivaled. I also think my next breed if not an Amstaff will be a more winter hardy breed because I like to spend a lot of time outdoors and bullies just aren't built for it.

Not sure if I really believe in terms such as a "heart breed", but there is no breed in my world that compares to the Toller. They might come close... but Tollers will always be #1 to me. So in that aspect, yes, I have found my breed. But as much as I am obsessed with Tollers, I will also own other breeds.. along with the Tollers, of course. :)

I guess for me, there's a heart breed and a heart dog. A heart breed is a breed that really pulls at your heart. You love the quirks, personality, working ability or whatever that is selected for and prevelent in that breed. A heart dog may or may not be from that breed, as it is the individual. I have a few heart breeds I guess. I love Dobermans...the breed, the traits they tend to share with other Dobermans. I also would say another heart breed for me would be Chihuahuas. Now that I've had a couple and from the stories I hear from other Chi owners, their antics and personalities, temperament etc is close to my heart.

Individually, Lyric, my Doberman happened to be my heart dog. I was more bonded to him than dogs of the past I think. Well, one particular GSD was pretty glued to my hip too. And now my Chi's are slipping into that heart dog space. I seem to have lots of space designated to heart dog. I'm pretty dang bonded with them as well.
