Generally all of the food we buy is fresh, so there aren't any coupons for things like that!

~~~~~~
I need to start checking to see if I can find coupons for things we buy on a regular basis for around the home... like paper towels, tp, etc, etc. But I guess I figure that my time is worth more than saving a few bucks.
They are fewer and farther between (fresh stuff coupons) but they DO exist, LOL........I have at this very moment a 10% off entire purchase of produce for Al's market (local chain) a $2.00 off coupon for Kroger deli, AND.......$3.00 off coupon for kroger meats :D Those of course are usually found in the stores own circular, and sometimes the kids will bring them home from school in their school flyer.
As far as 'time' I don't feel I spend lots of time searching or clipping coupons. I don't obsessively hunt them down online or anywhere. I get the Sunday paper because I KNOW there will be tons of coupons, I sit on the couch with my hubby while we are watching some TV, clip & watch (multitasking! WOOT, LOL) Kroger mails me a coupon book every month or so, and the rest just sort of fall into my lap at various times, LOL
PLUS, it was GREAT before I was laid off work.......the girls in the office and myself would bring in all coupons WE didn't want and keep them in a basket in the library. You could sift through them on break or whenever. One person's trash is another person's treasure, hahahaha
Restaurant coupons, clothes, hardware, you name it, I'll hold on to them until they expire 'just in case' we go there or need them. Ace hardware sends us 5 & 10 dollar coupons off constantly.......and trust me, Kevin is forever more needing this or that from Ace, LOL
If you pay attention, keep the coupons for ONLY what you will use/need...........it REALLY adds up to more than 'a few bucks' All this depends on what/how you use your free time. Do you have 'free time' in which you could incorporate clipping? Such as TV time like me? If you DON'T then it might not ever work for you because as you say, your time is valuable as well :)
EDIT: And one more thing...........the 'household' stuff you want to have coupons for? CHECK THE SUNDAY PAPER. Seriously, I normally have so many coupons for toilette paper, cleaning supplies, feminine products, and paper towels I have to throw them out before I can use them all.........not even kidding, LOL
lol MPP :D That was me too before I put so much effort into it the last couple days. That'll be me again next week I'm sure.
How do you all save on clothes? The only "clothes" coupons I get are like 3 day sales flyers and such. Like I think Kohls is having a 3 day sale this weekend where everything is 15% off. Do you just wait to do your shopping until something like that? Or where do you get your coupons?
I have store credit cards for Kohl's, Old Navy (which also works for Gap and Banana Republic) and for JCPenney's.
When you see the sale flyers and it says 15% off everything...like Kohl's....because I am a card holder, I got a flyer and I am getting 30% off.
Sign up for e-mails at stores you regularly shop at and they will send you coupons on e-mail. JCPenney often sends out $10 off $50 or something. I sometimes get $10 off a purchase of $10! I'm not sure if that is because I am a cardholder or not, but it's great cuz I can get an outfit for Mason for free!
But I pay the pills off when I get them, so I don't pay interest, so it's a good deal to get whatever I buy cheaper because I get more % off by being a cardholder.
Yup, I have an Old Navy card and I get special deals all the time (though I probably only buy clothes there maybe three times a year.) You rack up points too so you get bucks back. A couple months ago I got $10 just for using my Old Navy card that day and then $10 for spending a certain amount with them - I think I spent $50. Then I found out later I'd racked up enough points and got another $10 back. It was awesome.
I also have a Target card and everything I buy at Target I put on there. You get a point for every dollar spent at Target and half a point spent elsewhere, so I buy everything at Target on that card and put my gas on that card. Big purchases go on the card, too. Once you hit 1000 points you get 10% off a whole day of shopping at Target.
As long as you pay it off every month and there's no annual fee, store credit cards almost always give you some kind of bonus!
We get a $5 off a $50 purchase at Albertson's every week, and Publix accepts it which is nice :) That's pretty much the only coupon we use!
I collect the coupons that Meijer gives at the checkout, but never remember to use them. I happened to have a 'Save $5 on your next purchase of $50' coupon in my pocket when I went grocery shopping yesterday so finally got to use it!
im kind of the middle of the road person...
im a bargain shopper first and foremost and i TRY to be a smart shopper, si i dont buy something i dont need (and probably wont need) simply because i have a coupon...
if theres a coupon for washing detergent and im allergic to the brand im not going to buy that simply because Yay coupon...
i do however keep my eyes out for coupons for things i buy regularly, i dont buy something simply because its on sale, i look around...ive noticed they often put more expensive brands on sale and in the end its still more expensive than the generic...
i also try to limit my stops, or make it all 1 trip in a relitivly straight line because gas and time factors in...
if i need to go to the local grocery i check to see if i need anything from walmart as well because its right next door ect...
and i also try to do 1 big shop a month and then only fresh produce during the time "inbetween" unless theres a very good sale on a staple (like chicken or ground beef)
but we also have a chest freezer so i like to keep my meats stocked when i have the cash to afford them :)
all in all i typically save around $50
ive also found less coupons on fresh produce too, so i try to stick with things in season, because even on sale, if its off season its going to be more expensive.
in terms of clothes, i shop clearance and for the more expensive things (ie bras) i wait for lane bryant to send me a coupon AND have their semi-anual sale on.
i do however need to be better organized with my coupons...
its not uncommon for me to be unable to find a coupon i need, then find it a few months later, expired...:(
