I believe in fate.....I also believe in having a 6th sense, aliens, and ghost. I'm not being sarcastic, I really do believe in all of this (although I've never seen an alien or a ghost, haha)....

I do believe I have a 6th sense. I'll give 2 examples...

1. When I was in high school, we would have parties where drinking was involved. I would all of the sudden get the urge to just leave. Well, and this happened 3 times that I can remember, I passed the cops going in to bust the party up on my out....

2. I was driving home one night and passed a friends house that had a jack russell. I had an image that he got ran over in the road. The next day I found out that he had gotten ran over that morning. And no, I was not drunk or anything and I didn't run over the dog...the person that did hit him was nice enough to stop.

Edited...
3. Can't believe I forgot this one.....about 2 years ago I woke up at around 2a.m. having a panic attack (not uncommon as I have anxiety problems, but never had a panic attack that woke me up). Couldn't figure out why until the next day........a friend of mine tried to kill herself by taking a bunch of sleeping pills, yep, at 2 am the night before.

Anyway, yeah, I believe in fate, some things happen for a reason.

I think some things are meant to be.

For example: I believe everyone has a "soul mate". Some people find theirs and others settle for a "mate". Not that settling is bad, but they never experience the joy of their "soul mate".

I believe that for every bad thing that happens something good will happen. So, if you have one really bad thing happen (death, loss of home or vehicle, etc) you/your family will have a birth, carpool option, marriage or something equally good to even out the bad.

I guess fate is the right word. Everything happens for a reason. We just don't always know what that reason is. We may never know until we die (and are enlightened, go to heaven, whatever you believe in). It's better to "deal with the storm and look for the rainbow afterwards" than to "hide every time it rains and never see the break in the clouds when it stops". JMO:D

Yes, I believe God chooses a fate for each and every one of us. Things do happen for a reason, both good and bad.

I don't believe in fate at all. I think too many people believe in fate because it's easier to believe in fate than take responsibility for their actions.

I believe our life is in our hands. Are we influenced by the people and situations around us? Absolutely. But I don't think we have a predetermined destiny. We take each little thing in life and shape it towards an end. Some ends are good, some are bad. I know that I will do what I can to make the most of mylife: I am the driver, not a passenger.

From a Christian standpoint, I definately don't believe in fate. God has given each us gifts and abilities. It is up to our free will and our discretion to use them to the best possible end. Think about it: if God determines our fate in life, then He was the one who decided that Adam and Eve would fall from grace -- and thus deliberately set them up to do so. Hmmm.....food for thought?

Of course our own actions help to determine our own fate. God DID create us with free will, did He not? ;)

And yet a great deal of Christian dogma holds with predestination . . . that's always been one of the questions that got me into trouble with church people . . . ;)

And I always thought that little drama with Abraham - the one where he was commanded to sacrifice his son - showed a great deal of cruelty and jealousy. Not attributes worthy of worship by any means.

I believe in fate, or some type of fated coincidences... LOL, if that's not an oxymoron. haha

As Jfrick said I believe in sixth senses, or special "feelings".

I'll only give one example, the one that terrified me for years... But there are many...

When I was younger I used to have horrible dreams. I had dreams where I actually died, not almost died, or was going to die and woke up but died. So I spent many a night up eating french fries with my dad. LOL. I don't know how he did it and than went to work but whatever.

One night, I woke up. You know how sometime when you wake up and you were having a dream and it takes a second to decipher what's real and what you were dreaming?

Well, I woke up and echoing in my head I heard someone screaming, crying "help me!'.... I sobbed my mom, woke up, I insisted someone needed help... I stayed up for hours crying.. sobbing...

Well the next day on our way out, a couple of blocks away there were cop cars everywhere, yellow tape. In the middle of the night a drunk driver crashed into a telephone pole. They had severe injuries and were unconscious from the accident. They died, no one knew the accident had happened until it was too late.

My mom was definitely scared of me for a few months after that... even still today if the subject is brought up about my night terrors as a kid and that one particular instance is brought up she won't talk about it...

I don't think our whole lives a predetermined, but I believe that there are choices that we can make that will lead to some fated situation or meeting, good or bad.

Our church believes that our whole lives are planned before we're even born.. Every move, every meeting every decision...

Isn't that fate? Or maybe I'm confused... :S

I'm not sure if I believe that we can have bad luck because of fate. I do think that we are put in places at certain times....like meeting a b/f or spouse. Sometimes it's just to random to explain.

If it cant be proven to be true I wont believe it. People just hate to be wrong so in order to be right they try to get as many people as they can to follow their mindset. After all if most people believe it, thats proof right?

Thanks for all the replies people. I'm not particularly religious, so I don't really kno what the bible says about life and things. i do believe in ghosts and things through experience, as the person said on the first page (sorry i did read the name of who posted it but im too lazy to go back and check hehe). i don't really know if my house fire was for a reason, it was just in a black way convenient lol. but what some one said about death linking in with a new birth i believe cud be true, my gran died last week, and my mum is pregnant, hardly an example to go on lol, but there we go.
but it was interesting reading ur thoughts, keep them coming. :)

I think God has a plan for everyone. He has everything planned out very carefully...including bad things. I think bad things happen to teach us lessons. But I also believe that our lives are partly in our hands. I think God has control, but He will let go at times and let us teach ourselves lessons.
I also believe in "what goes around comes around". If you spend your life being a jerk, that's going to bite you in the butt eventually.

I'm a Christian and don't believe in "what goes around, comes around" in the Hindu or Pagan beliefs...I believe that if you do something bad, God is going to say, "I'm going to make something bad happen to you to teach you a lesson." You get a dose of your own medicine. :D
