no, although i wish i did. i was raised catholic, became a rabid born-againer in jr high, lost all my faith in high school. since then, i've tried on a couple religions. i find paganism aesthetically pleasing, but i cannot bring myself to actually believe in any of it.

I already stated I was atheist. I raised by a Christian (not a bible thumper, doesn't go to church, etc). She is actually more agnostic I suppose, but she does call herself christian, and my grandmother is very christian and goes to church. She raised us to have a mind of our own, and believe what we want to believe. She taught ua about many religions, and let us make up our own minds.

I live in California. Most of my friends are also atheists...except a close friend of mine who is Catholic..and raised by a very catholic family. (She doesn't go to church..and doesn't really do anything religious, or talk about it).

i like puting the word energy to it because i think it explains it better, i dont belive theres some big being in the sky watching us in everything we do and guiding us...
but i do feel theres this "life force", this energy that is the same in everyone and everything and surrounds us. for those that want to feel it they can/do and call it what they will, god, buddah, the flying spghettie monster...

i belive this energy can be mildly manipulated by those more attuned to it...not in the holiwood kind of way but more a subtle "magic"
i also belive that this energy is never ending (electricity never dies it just moves on) and was here before the universe will be hear after the universe and was the spark that started life...that life being minute microscopic organisms which eventually eevoled into life as we know it...

i belive there was a man named jesus with some very wonderfull ideas, do i belive he was the only offspring of some great and powerfull creator being? no...
I do belive however we all have that "energy" within us...

I like how rufus put it in dogma...about having IDEAS because ideas are easy to change :)

i do call myself an eclectic pagan. beyond that...labels dont work for what i feel.
all i know is that when im surrounded by trees i feel a peek in a special kind of energy, the sound of the ocean fills me with a feeling of power ect.I voted that i do belive because i belive in SOMETHING...whether that something fits into anyones traditional veiw of god...*shrugs* lol
I hear ya. I always feel spiritual, although not particularly religious in an organized sense in connection with nature. I live in a very spiritual place and the wilderness and all it's beauty is my "church." (I guess you could say) I feel very much like you describe...which you do very well.

(Maybe that "energy" is what Cesar Milan is talking about...?) :rofl1:

I do feel this... I feel a sense of peace in the outdoors.... But I can't say I am spiritual... I don't think about gods and goddesses or gaia... I just.......... zone.

I feel that peace outside in nature too. I don't consider that spiritual though. I just feel very in the moment without a care in the world.

I like that feeling.

To me that is a spiritual feeling. I don't think of God, or a god, or goddess. I just feel profoundly happy, thrilled to be alive and deeply thankful for being right there in that moment. (with no feelings as to who I should be thankful too)

I feel that way 99% of the time lately and I love it. Spirituality means something different to everyone. Nice to know I'm not the only one who feels that way though. I know some people who think I'm a real quack.

im the same way dekka, and yes personally woudl also consider that "at peace" feeling a spiritual thing.

ive personally talked to alot of people who are so concerned with the mainstream version of "religion" and "spirituality" that they dont realize that that wonderfull feeling they get when they sit outside under the sun and connect with themselves or the world around them...THAT is also a form of spirituality.

and paige, dont worry bout being thought of as a quack, theres enough "alternative spitituality" (as i think anyone that said i dunno but theres something should be called lol) people on this board that we could start our own little club :)

I get the same feeling but I do connect it to God in some form. I get a lot of peace from the outdoors.

All I can say is that I was at death's door when I was nine . I slept in my Dad's twin bed ( he was overseas ) when I heard my Mom on the phone crying as she was trying to arrange trying to get me to either Montreal or New york for some cure . My fever was over 104 and I prayed my heart out !!! The next morning it was normal ! I hadn't spoken for weeks and my Mom almost fainted when I said " Hi Mom ! I'm hungry " . I haven't doubted since then !!! Don't tell me prayer doesn't help !!! Look at Ali with cyber prayers !!

Once you're touched by God's love & his healing graces, it's impossible not to believe firmly in Him!

i suppose, though, too that it works the other way. when you're a kid being sexually abused and you pray and pray and beg for god to help you save you get you out, and it never happens.
