I have a lot of photos of my dogs on my facebook and probably a good 65-75% of my facebook statuses have to do with the dogs. Recently someone told me that I'm obsessed and that I need to get a life. That person got the delete button. I'm friends with quite a few of you on facebook and I'm friends with a ton of other dog people (mostly Ibizan Hound owners) as well and they have lots of photos and post a lot about their dogs as well. I'm just wondering if you guys deal with the same thing as I do with people thinking you're crazy, obsessed or just plain weird.

I personally think it's rude. I have friends that post all about partying all the time, all about their motorcycles, or football or whatever be it... but if I post about dogs that makes me obsessed and have no life?

I downplay it a lot on facebook. I realize my friends don't care about Lucy nearly as much as I do, so I only post the funny/neat stuff, and try to balance it out with interesting non-dog stuff.

I have quite a few people on my friends list blocked from showing up on my newsfeed because they only ever talked about one thing (tv shows, sports teams, baby's first time eating every food item, etc) and I had no interest in it. I'd never tell someone they had no life for their singular interest though!

No i dont really talk about them much other than a few funny stories here and there or if someone asks about them like " my dogs such and such" "oh what kind of dogs do you have" etc

I get told that I'm obsessed/spend too much time on/care too much about my dogs a lot. I don't care really care, especially as it usually comes from people that don't have hobbies at all. At least my dogs are fun and entertaining and add a lot of joy to my life. :)

ETA: Oh and that I spend too much money on them. I usually respond to that because it's nobody's business but mine what I spend money on!

Nope. I mean, quite a few people know that I like dogs and have one. but nobody has ever told me I was "obsessed" with them
My facebook has a few pics of Romeo and such, but the majority of it is about me/other things...so I guess nobody on facebook has a reason to.
Either way, it's a hella rude thing to say.

eh I guess I just have no issue being a "dork" about things so I probably wouldn't care if somebody said I was obsessed, but the get a life thing is quite rude.
As for my dork things, nobody really has anything negative to say about it lol wether its dogs or harry potter, people tend to embrace my geekyness.

I was "that girl" in high school. Homecoming queen, prom queen, cheerleader yada yada yada and people thought it was pretty weird at first that I liked reading and dogs and stuff, but the minute people tried poking fun I just laughed with them and embraced my quirks and VOILA people started to embrace them as well..
It's all about confidence I think :) Everybody has their geeky things, be proud of yours and you'll be no fun to make fun of lol

Just my sister and my best friend. But I also tell Em that she's obsessed with her dog too. ;) Both are true. My best friend was just teasing me as she always does. Nothing mean spirited at all on her part.

My SIL gave me a present that was just a book that was shaped like the word 'DOG' and had pics of summer and Mia in it. I thought it was cool. My family knows I adore dogs, my friends do too. My coworkers all (except one) have dogs so they mention theirs a lot and I'll talk about my dogs too but usually only if someone else brings up the subject first. I don't talk about my dogs 24/7 to most people, though. I think everyone has their interests and that's cool with me.

Well, I'm friends with people from highschool on FB still but the majority of people I talk to on FB I've met through dog forums, dog trials, dog parks and so on. I figure if the people from highschool or people that aren't connected to the dog world like I am that are friends with me on FB get annoyed they can hide my stuff or delete me. I post a lot about dogs and I really don't care if someone doesn't want to read about it anymore, they don't have to. People grow and change and I understand that so it's not really something I concern myself with

But my FB is taken over by Koolie people anyways so it's all good.

I like reading about other people's interest so I'm never bothered by people posting a lot about one thing. I get to learn stuff that way.

In RL I'm known as the Crazy Dog Lady at work and I'm really ok with that. I don't shove it in people's faces but when asked what I'm up to I'm going to tell them I'm going hiking with the dogs, biking with the dogs, training with the dogs and so on. Tends to get me labeled fast

No, I don't think anyone ever has. I don't post too much about that on FB, but in real life, 80% of my conversations (that's an exaggeration, but seriously A LOT) are about dogs. Usually it's someone else bringing it up. My friends are largely dog-lovers, though. If I'm with someone who isn't a dog-lover, I don't bring it up because I know they don't care about it.

ladies in gentleman...exhibit a, b and c.

"BABY TIMMYS FIRST TIME EATING PEAS!" "BABY TIMMYS FIRST TIME IN THE STROLLER" "BABY TIMMY WENT TO THE ZOO TODAY"

"OMG I LOVE MY BOYFRIEND SO MUCH" "BOYFRIEND BROUGHT ME FLOWERS" "BOYFRIEND AND ME AT THE MOVIES <3"

"GO HEAT!" "OMG MIAMI HEAT!" "I LOVE LEBRON!" "MY BOYS!! THE HEAT!!"

so. ****. annoying.
and yes, I do think quite a few dog people are guilty of the facebook assault of the dog lol but who cares? they are my friends, I wouldn't delete them/say anything to hurt their feelings or rain on their parade.

Do I WANT to say something to the people above sometimes? hell yea. lol but if you don't have anything nice to say..then don't say it.

I do tone down the dog stuff on facebook. but some people don't and I see no issue with that

I get asked if there will ever be pictures of me and stuff, but never really told I am obsessed. Most people on my facebook are either relatives, have dogs, have ferrets, or are in rescue.

I am OBSESSED with my dogs. Not overboard. At least not yet. Hehe. I talk about them everyday. Somehow they come up in most subjects. Especially, my Princess. I mean it really depends who I run into. Some people say I need to cool down...They are JUST dogs. I am like they are NOT just dogs. They are my life. They are the reason I am alive. Talking about my dogs makes it easier for me to converse with someone.

I think at my age, it's just a given with people around me that they know I'm obsessed with dogs. I established a career around them. They did mention it before, more when I was younger (most people around me like family and friends aren't dog people) but like I said before, all who knows me know how much they mean to me an, at least to my face, have accepted it.

Nobody I know tells me I am... I think it is pretty obvious that I am though, haha. They all know how crazy I am about dogs, and especially my dogs in particular. I've never had somebody I don't know well tell me how obsessed I am, but I have gotten a lot of strange looks when they realize just how devoted my life is to my dogs. I don't feel that I am obsessed in an unhealthy way, though. I'm just more involved with dogs than the average joe pet owner is (as I am sure most of us Chazzers are), and people just don't understand it.

I have been into animals my entire life. To know me is to hear about all the rodents, dogs, and other things that my life is part of.

Yep, a lot of my FB stuff has to do with dogs. That's ok... a ton of my friends do the same.

Honestly? The only friends i have left in real life are ones that accept that I'd rather be with my dog than go out drinking. I've never been "normal" or had many friends. I'm fat, ugly, and i love my dog more than anything in the world... Not someone most people want to be around.

I have people on FB i haven't talked to in years and they don't have to read my page or look at my pictures (but lots of people do because i do get the odd comment on how adorable Izzie is or how awesome what she does it).

Though my friends do jokingly tell me I'm obsessed with my dog. Come on though, it's Izzie... She has people that have no pets that come to the store just to see her. I'm just proud of the dog i raised and trained by myself.

Plus i'm terribly unphotogenic and I'm sure people would rather look at pictures of my gorgeous dog than me.

I used to downplay my dog obsession a lot in real life.

The last year or so (particularily since I got Quinn) I decided screw them all and don't really shut up about it anymore. My friends know what I'm like and they generally don't give me a hard time, there are worse things I could be interested in.

Plus since having Quinn and being able to get out and about to do more dog stuff and meet more dog people I've started adding a lot more of them on facebook so therefore I add more photos of my dogs and I figure in the end I'll only have friends that can put up with me.

All my friends are pretty good though, one of them messaged me a photo of a poster he saw about an agility centre opening yesterday morning. Eventhough dogs arn't really his thing, he wants to come and watch me trial Quinn when we get good enough to.
