Yes , dogs do think and figure things out . BUT.... depending on age there could be medical problems causing bad behavior . I personally think there's a fine line . Our Irish Setter ( 1940s ) was a perfect gentleman until my Dad went into WW2 ........though our household didn't change he did when left alone ......became very vendictive and also agressive towards strangers . My Mom had to " farm " him out for 5 years and we got him back when Dad came home . All was fine .

Good article. Dogs are dogs, and to humanize them and give them human cognitive thought patterns can cause alot of grief as it did with Blue's owner. I believe that dogs do think, and that they do feel different emotions---but as dogs, not humans. I see this over and over again with dogs labeled as suffereing from seperation anxiety- that they are mad at their owner because they have been left home instead of being allowed to come along.

I hope that this article can help some people who are going through this very problem!

Nice article. I myself treat my pets as children that needs to be care of and always wanted to play.
