I have question as I have notice something about my pup.

We live in the country and I am alone twelve hours a day sometimes. I wanted a dog for a long time so finally got a lab pup. I wanted a friend and a companion.

I went to visit Zoe many times before I brought her home so she would know me. I wanted to bond with her.

Except for going to the store and being gone an hour or two occasionally I am with her most of the time. I walk her ,feed her , play with her ,hug her and love her up.

She doesnt seem to show me any kind of loving affection at all. I talk to her sweet and she just sits and looks at me and does nothing.

She appears to be indifferent except for trying to chew my hands and bite my pant legs.

When my hubby gets home she is quite loving licking his hands and being very gentle and sweet . I told him to feed her tonight to see her reaction and he did an after she ate she came over to him and wagged her tale and was almost thanking him. She doesnt do this with me ever.

My hubby is not even a dog person but a cat person and loves our cats.

Could it be that she just loves men more than women.? If so is that the way she will always be?

I also took her to visit a friend of mine who is a male and she went crazy and was really friendly and loving with him to.

Maybe you spend too much time with her? Pups do need room to grow, but I'm sure someone more experienced can answer this better!

Who's feeding her? If you control her feeding... you SHOULD control her affections. Also, she may be picking up that your Husband is the absolute head of the household... which may make her treat him as her idol instead of you. Although on the other hand, it could be a preference of the dog too...

I admit I've always bonded more tightly to my boy dogs than my boy dogs have bonded to my boyfriends. Granted I've always controlled the food - i'm the one who feeds and treats and trains. I don't play rough games with Mojo, and I control all of his play - if he gets too rough play stops. Plus, he's left alone quite a bit, but I always retrun...

So i don't know the answer I suppose... that's just my experience.

I've noticed that if I am home with the dog the longest he will be more excited to see the person who isn't often there than they would for me, at least this is often what happens with my dog. I think it's just because they don't get to see that other person as much and know that you will always be there. Not that this is what's happening with your pup, but it could be a possibility :)

Thanks for your replies. I am the one who feeds her except for that one time .I dont spend all my time with her its just that I am the one who is home alone with her most of the day.

I am thinking possibly that the husband of the breeder might have left an impression on her regarding men.

He was quite involved in their care along with his wife. There were eleven pups in the litter and so she needed his help to.
