This actually sounds interesting. I hate periods, and I hate tampons. Maybe this will prove to be the lesser of the two evils.

*holds out RMB for Tosca* That oughta keep her busy. :p (okay, well, you were pretty funny)

I admit, I first had a big EW! But.. this sounds wayyyyy better. I hate pads, no matter how big they are, if I don't cut my sleep down to seven hours and use a tampon it leaks. No exceptions. urgh.

Dreeza, I have a couple questions, though... what does it feel like? More or less uncomfortable than a tampon?

Does it really NOT leak? Do you honestly not have to worry about leakage?

This sounds really cool. I hate tampons and pads, tampons moreso, and if there was something that would mean I'd never have to use one or spend money on one again.. WOOHOO!

FYI... putting the cup back in after you've wiped it.. not so gross. You're just putting it back into what it came out of, it's like it was there along. *shrug*

Maybe baby wipes would make it less gross? I don't know. I've never had to do it. Seriously just emptied it morning and night and was good to go. I think it feels a little uncomfortable at first because it's a new sensation to get used to. Remember wearing tampons for the first time? :yikes: lol Especially if you got the wrong size. (I was just a little teen!) lol The suction really does stop any spilage. And because of the material it's made out of it's safer to have in than tampons. Nothing leaching into your system.

I have a question. What is a lerning curve or whatever that thing is they are talking about the diva cup has? That you have to get used to?

So is it more noticeable than a tampon would be at first? Is it noticeable at all after you get used to it? Do you even need to worry about pads anymore?

I'm curious as to how this thing works.

I remember all too clearly. *shudder* You guys have basically convinced me. This sounds way better than tampons. I'll just see if they have a money-back guarantee or something..

The Keeper is another option but I went for the diva cup because it's silicone. http://www.keeper.com/

The soft cup looks weird. You can have sex with it in? Must read more...

Oh softcups are disposable. Something entirely differently.

Learning curve? The trickiest part for me was figuring out how to put the **** thing in! You have to fold it in half twice and the silicone is pretty thick so if you don't have a good grip it just pops back open - and it's not going in like that! I'd say it takes a couple days to master insertion and by that time you should be used to how it feels too. Shouldn't notice it at all.

I think they do have a guarantee.

This is the only thing that really scares me, i have a fear of things getting stuck anywhere in my body lol!

Can The DivaCup™ get stuck? If it happens, what to do.

It is highly unlikely that The DivaCup™ will get stuck since the vagina is only around 4 or 5 inches long. If your DivaCup™ rides up and becomes harder to reach, simply push down (or bear down) on your stomach muscles (similar to having a bowel movement) and reach inside the vagina and pull on the stem until you can reach the base of the cup and squeeze it. Make sure that you are relaxed while doing this so that your vaginal muscles do not become tense. Once you have squeezed the base to release the air, pull the cup out on a sideways angle to allow more air to enter the vagina and it will come out no problem. If you still cannot reach The DivaCup squat on the floor and this will automatically lower the cup because this position pushes everything down lower.

The important thing to remember is not to panic, as this will make the vaginal muscles very tense and it will be harder to remove. If it feels too slippery to get a hold of the stem, wait a bit, relax, and try again by bearing down on the muscles, which will push it down to be able to pinch the base and remove. By following the instructions: making the cup rotate 360 degrees to make sure it has opened up and made the seal, and by wearing it low in the canal(not pushing it up high like a tampon), the cup should be very easy to remove. If it does ride up too high to reach, please call our toll free customer service line as our experienced staff can help.

Oh yeah they have a one-year money back guarantee. I think you can wear it for at leaset 12 hours. TSS has never been associated with it since it doesn't dry out your insides or have any chemicals that leak out into you. Plus it doesn't sit as high so it's not as intrusive and it doesn't hold your blood inside you it lets it flow down and then catches it.

You must not use tampons then either! Same thing can happen with them. String breaks or gets 'lost' up in there. I had that happen the one time I tried the 'sponge' those things get rammed up in there. Steve had fun playing doctor. lol

hehe, Saje, I am glad I have someone to back me up on this thing!! Sorry Tosca, I was just being pissy earlier...I AM on my period after all, LOL

Anyways, I cannot even feel it at all...

I actually accidently wore mine for like almost 24 hours cause I kinda forgot about it, and when I remembered, I wasnt really at a place I could wash it, so I figured I was better off just leaving it in, since I knew it didnt need to be emptied.

And yeah, like saje said, there should be no leaking as long as it is in right...

I just had the guts to spend the night at that one kid's house I have been talking about...wearing his shorts...with JUST the divacup...and lets just say we are NOT at the point where I am comfortable with having him find leakage in his shorts, hahahaha. He doesnt even know I am on my period...no telltale signs of garbage wrappings to leave behind...

There is this forum/journal thingy: http://community.livejournal.com/menstrual_cups that I have been reading up on it...

they have all these different ways to fold it (other than the way the instructions say) that make it WAAAAY easier to put it...

another nice thing is that unlike tampons, you can put it in before you get your period...so that way, if you buy this, you can test run it before your period comes.

The one complaint has been the stem thingy on it...a lotta women say it pokes them...so they just cut it off, and problem is solved. I havent had that issue at all though...

Frisky...its a little tricky getting it out at first, but once you get the hang of it, its fine. I think mine sits up a little higher (which is why the stem doesnt poke me), but thats just cause everyone is a little different 'down there'. So when i first went to take it out, i was like "oh sh*t, where did it go, LOL"??? But the 'bearing down' works wonders, and I had it out in no time!!!

Oh yeah the little stem thing. If it pokes I just twist it til it sits comfortably. Didn't take long to figure out where was best. I guess I have to order a new one now that I've had a baby! Well, WILL HAVE HAD a baby... eventually.

The very best thing?
yeah, no. That is a freaking lie. My vagina has most definitely experienced better:lol-sign:

But period wise...tis so true.

Julie...I thought the testimonials seemed far fetched too...but this thing really is friggin awesome. Another thing...with pads...i think we all know the 'period smell'...since that apparently occurs when the blood is exposed to air and what not, there has been zero of that...

Granted I have only had this for like 4 days, but I can seriously see this making my life soo much easier. In Rome last summer, I got my period totally randomly, and REALLY heavy...so I was completely unprepared...it was just BAD.

I was totally thinking of going back on BCPs for when I go to Spain, and making myself 'skip' my period just to avoid that situation...I now feel like this little thing is gonna totally eliminate anything like that from happening again...

Are you getting paid for this testimonial Dreeza? lol... My friend has been considering these, I'll have to tell her about your experience with it.
