Yes, we always did. My mom started locking them in a big army duffel bag and we either found the key and unlocked it or pulled the top apart enough to see. We always knew what we were getting.

I never did and still don't. I like suprises :)

My least favorite is when people are like "guess what i got you! can i give you a hint?"

I did one year, and got caught pretty easily. :rofl1:

My mom had to pick my dad up from work one night, so it was my brother's brilliant idea to sneak in their closet and look at what they had gotten us. My mom was smart though and expected it from us, so she had set something in front of the door so that if it was out of place when she got home, she'd know we had been in there.

My mom got home, and asked if we had been in her room. Finally it came out that my brother had been snooping, but I managed to go uncaught, my mom thought our older sister had snooped with him (and she was like, 20 at the time, lol). And then my brother ratted me out.

I didn't mind not having the surprise (I just like unwrapping things, lol), but that was the last time I snooped. :p

When I was younger, yes I would look around for them. And my mom used to keep them at my grandmother's house so I couldn't find them. Now she just keeps them in her closet, and I have no interest in snooping around. I don't want to know what I got, it would ruin all the fun!

And then once they were wrapped when i was younger, i would get the cat's claws and make them make slits in the wrapping so I can try and see what I got, and then blame it on them lol.

When I was a kid? I will still try to figure out everything I'm getting. I do not handle surprises very well. I need to know everything.

Okay, now that is just genius! :rofl1:

I would always just try to peek through any opening in the wrapping I could find, never thought about dragging the animals into it. :p

Nowadays though, my parents wait until the last minute to do any shopping, so I normally don't have any presents under the tree until around 9 or 10pm Christmas Eve, lol.

I snooped once and succeeded when I was about 7. Never have done it since... snooping completely ruined my Christmas morning. I like not knowing. And nope, I don't have a problem at all with not telling people what I've gotten for them. I'm pretty good at keeping things quiet. :)

Yup I was a bad child. i ALWAYS ruined xmas for myself since I snooped. I'm terrible. I will admit it, I just get to excitied. I havnt snooped in years, but it still kills me to know stuff is hidden away with my name on it lol

I used to open then retap my presents too.

i still remember finding some PlayMobile set for my brother tucked away in the attic. we drug it out, and ripped the box open to play with it... let's just say mom was NOT happy when she came upstairs and found out. :)

Ahhh I did that. A few days before xmas, I woke up, sneaked downstairs. And grabbed the presents my aunt left for me. Me being nieve, thinking no one would notice my aunts presents missing. crawles under my bed and opened them, they were barbies, I was THRILLED. ripped the boxes open and play for about 30 mins under my bed with those...until I got caught. I got in so much trouble lol.

Yeah, I snooped. ALOT. My Mom never confronted me about it, however, I suspected she was on to me when she started leaving decoy packages in the place that the real presents used to be hidden.

I'm probably worse at hiding gifts myself though. I can barely make it home from the store without calling the recipient and saying "OMG, I got you the PERFECT gift."

It's such a sense of accomplish to get somene a gift for me that waiting for Christmas (birthday/anniversay/etc) is impossible.

So, either I wait til Christmas eve to do my shopping, or everyone gets their gifts by Thanksgiving. :rofl1:

I may tell someone I found the perfect gift for them . . . may even give them some obscure hint that only an English professor with a guilty penchant for fantasy and obscure Celtic/mythological lore might unravel, but that's all they get until Christmas :D

I once made my sister a robe for Christmas while she was in college at Oberlin (think COLD). She came home before I had a chance to finish it, and the sewing machine, at the time was housed in her room. I finished it with her there, hemmed it after trying it on her, told her it was for mom. Had her so thoroughly convinced that when she opened it Christmas morning she was upset because she thought she'd opened mom's gift instead :D
