Some background first. I have two 5 month old miniature dachshunds. They are currently on Innova puppy and seem to be doing ok except for one thing. Peanut has runny poops on and off. We got him at 8 weeks and he was on purina one, so we switched him to Innova puppy about a month after getting him. We got izzy at 18 weeks and switched her pretty quickly (we only mixed half and half for a couple of days) to the Innova puppy. She is doing great, but I can't help but wonder if something in the food is causing Peanut's runny poops. I am thinking about switching their food to see if something else might work better for them, but all the choices are making my head spin. I got a trial size of Orijen Puppy and mixed a tiny bit in there food today and they loved it and picked it out first. I guess my question is how do I go about finding a food that will work better for Peanut? Is the Orijen Puppy likely to cause the same problem as the Innova Puppy? Any other suggestions?

A lot of that is trial and error. One of the first culprits I look at for runny stools when a high grade food is being fed is overfeeding. I've found it works much better to feed smaller amounts several times rather than once or twice a day.

Mine all eat EVO RM, and trust me, you NEVER want to overfeed, lol!

Oh, and adding a spoonful of plain canned pumpkin works wonders on the runs ;)
