I have such a heavy heart right now. I had to have Shae put down tonight. Shae was 17, a shelti and such a gentle dog. His heart was a giant bucket of love and if anyone knows about shelties...they will understand what the vet said before she injected the lethal dosage of "forever after".

Shelties are a proud, gentle, breed of dog. They will never whine or let you know they are in pain. They just "go with the flow". They are there when you need them, there when you want them, and give forever, unconditional, brave love.

Come to find out, my vet had just adopted a 12 year old sheltie and loved the breed as much as me.

Shae was my first dog. My ex husband and I bought him for our daughter when she was 6. She is now 23 and came over to say her final "goodbye" to her beloved dog.

It was a hard decision, but in order to let him go gracefully, I had to give the OK to let him go. He had 4 major seizures but his heart was strong. And that was the hard part. His body was A1 but his mind was gone a long time ago.

God speed my beloved Shae. Have fun in doggie heaven. Know that all of us on chazhound and other doggie lovers pray for you and hope you are having a great time with all the others before you.

Love

What a wonderful and long relationship you had with Shae. It is sad you had to say goodbye.

My sincerest condolences on your loss.

He has the best epitaph any dog could.

He was dearly loved his entire life.

God speed, Shae. There are many great ones there to greet you.

Aww...thanks so much for your kind words. I'm very worried about my other dog Jack. He is just moping around looking for Shae. Shae's last years were to be spent with Jack leading him around. Shae's eyesite was failing and he wouldn't go out unless Jack was with him.

It's sad

I'm so sorry for your loss. It's the most difficult thing to have to say our good-byes to our best friends. I know, I had to pts my Lab last year. My Dobe moped and looked for her for a week or two and then finally got back to normal. Your dog will be OK pretty soon. I send my thoughts and best wishes to you that your pain eases. I'm so sorry.

So sorry about your beloved Shae. He is no longer suffering and is at peace, doing what he loves to do in heaven. Prayers to you and Shae.
