it's all of him. if you left the collar on, that will be cremated as well (usually).

i'm very sorry for your loss.

The entire cat is cremated. In some cases you have to ask for a private cremation vs. a "group" cremation where you get some of the ashes. Private cremation gives you only your pet's ashes. At least that's how it is here. So check that out with your vet. It costs more, but I have done it for each and every pet I have ever had. When I die, they all go with me.

All of mine have been cremated privately with ashes returned to me . The ashes of many are already waiting for me in our memorial bench . When they open for mine , Chip will be added , Ollie may be still around !

Yes, the entire animal is cremated. I've had one of my dogs, and one of my cats cremated.

They are put in erns (sp?) and sealed, and you have the choice to engrave their name on the pot. That's what I did :D

How'd your dog pass away??

I'm sorry I said "cat" instead of dog in my post. It was freudian as I just lost a cat last week. His wooden box is right near my bed. It is comforting to have the ashes of your beloved pets and it does offer some closure as well.

I am sorry for your loss, but considering how long he was with you, you surely did something very right thru the span of his lifetime.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I have all of my babies cremated...my husband teases me that I need to make their urns functional, like lamps, etc...he always says he is going to have an oak chest coffe table made for mine since I have so many little oak boxes sitting around the house!

I do senior pet rescue and many of the animals come to me very old and often times they have chronic health problems. I am always saddened by their passing, but I am comforted by the fact that I have given them the best time of their lives in the often short time that I know them. They know what it is like to be loved and cherished. I'm sure your dog knew just how much you loved him. He was very lucky to have been with your family for his entire life. Many of the pets that I rescue have been in abusive or neglectful situations or in and out of the shelter system but some of them did come from loving homes. Their owners got sick or passed away and they found themselves in the shelter system. For them, it is a tougher adjustment because they do mourn for their families. It is very hard for us to say goodbye, but I am confident that we will be reunited with our pets when we are called home. Just remember, you don't have to stop loving him just because he has left this plane of existence...I do believe that they have a window into our lives and they know when we are thinking of them...just imagine you dog unincumbered by his aging or sick body, playing and romping like he did when he was young...he is in good company because I know many of the pets that have crossed my path were there to greet him...Take comfort, he's with you even though you can't see him...
