hey everyone i am new here, my name is abbie. Nice to meet you all.
This thread is not about that though it is about ,my westie. Recently two men a few streets away from my house tried to kidnapp these two children. After that I have been nervice to walk my dog around a few blocks and such. I do agility with him, but for some reason I feel like I need a way to still get out of a fenced in area and just have some freedom. I want him to interract with other dogs. Since there are no local dog parks, I do not know what to do. ANY SUGESTIONS?

Sorry about any typos i am rushing to go to my barn.

Yikes... scary. If you feel that unsafe, maybe you could drive to a different place for walks, or maybe just a regular park? Maybe doggie daycare for some dog interaction? I dunno.

Get some pepper spray. Unless your neighborhood is has a high crime rate/creepy people in general, i'd say the attempted kidnapping is out of the ordinary. Tell someone when you go for a walk, and where you plan on going, so that if you don't come back they'll know what's up. Bring a cell phone.

Or drive to another neighborhood or park and walk there.

Steel toed boots. Best investment ever. I've kicked a few people with not so nice intentions before I had Bandit.

We had that happen not too long ago, just around the block from me. It was terrifying.
I just carry pepper spray with me, but I also have a very large, black dog who takes no sh*t from people when he senses that I'm uncomfortable.

Not even if it results in broken ribs !!
Nope. I know he takes care of me. Poor baby. He was in the house when that happened though (we think). I also wasn't home. We think Zach did it because he bit at him through the screen door the second time he came around. A$$hole.

hi abbie and welcome to the site...

that's really scary... we should feel secure in our own place and not be scared that something like that will happen...

police visibility is still the best for me....

Take the pepper spray and take heart in the knowledge that even little dogs that bark and attract a lot of attention are a deterrent.

The steel toed boots are a good idea - if you think you'll use them and not freeze up. I'd say they'd be kinda handy in a barn in close quarters with horses, too, in case of getting your toes stepped on!

I feel terrible in you place with those crazy people, if they are really kidnappers they are surely carrying deadly weapon so don't take a risk. Just drive in safe place.
