Would I be considered crazy if I made our third bedroom into a bedroom just for the dogs? I mean, the cats have the second living room as the "Cat room" with all sorts of cat trees, so I was thinking i'd do the third bedroom up like a little girls' bedroom for Kaya and Luna, get them matching twin beds from the thrift store and some washable bed linens and let them sleep there since they whine soo bad to get in the bed with us and theres no way were letting that happen. So would it be wierd to have a pink a purple decorated room for dogs or just a little "eccentric"?

haha well, if you love your animals that much, I'd go for it. Seeing as they are two great Danes.. I can see fitting them in you and your husbands bed to be a little bit risky.. lol

They are more then likely wanting in your bed for the comfort of being with you though lol i know thats why Riot sits and whines at the end of my bed until he gets on.. hes not interested on sleeping in the bed, hes interested in sleeping beside me. :)

Nah for them its the bed, we are renovating our entire house and I had to step up the timeframe on the doors (they had to have their handles replaced which required new holes drilled) because Luna would jump on the bed and sleep there when noone was around. Little stinker lol. I wouldn't have minded but I hand-sewed the entire bedset from dupioni silk and it took me weeks and she never fails to roll in the dirt outside before jumping on the bed LOL. I realise i'm an evil Dane owner for not letting them on the couch/my bed so I thought i'd give them their own room with their own "real" beds (they have expensive brand new doggy beds atm) and their own loveseat and then decorate it like a bedroom for twin girls. Part of me is saying "You have gone off the deepend chick" and part of me is saying "That could be REALLY fun and cool!"

Hey, if I was younger I'd turn my guest bedroom room into a dorm for foster dogs !! My garage into kennels and whelping areas ! My kitchen is already open for all, my living room my dog and grand-dogs daily hangout, my computer room open to whoever wants to join me... my twin bed for whomever fits, plus 2 dog beds on floor. Yet members of my family feel I need assisted living ! I am assisted by my canine friends !

I want to do that. That would be so neat. I don't think the dogs would sleep there though (I'd probably end up sleeping in their bed and them in ours). Maybe in a couple decades when the kids are grown and out on their own I could try.

It's a good idea, but if your dogs are half the same way as mine, they won't go there if you're not there too. My 'dog room' is the computer room, with the crates, the bed, their food and all the toys, knowing that I'm in the room most of the time anyway.

I have a 3 bedroom house and only use 2 of them so the other one has dog beds/toys/bowls in

i also use it for my foster kittens so thay can have their own space away from my own animals

When we were looking to buy a house we were looking for at least 2 BR but really wanted 3BR. Well we found one that was perfect. We have our own room, then the guest room and the dogs room, they even have twoile (sp?) curtains (I made then) b/c the 1 dog bed is a red dog twoile (yes little red doggies) :D
We have the pack-n-play for the chis and the crates for jake (a smaller and larger for when he grows). Plus we will be fixing up the closet for their this and extra storage. right now they have one of those 2drawer things w/ all their stuff, shirts jackets, shampoo, treats, etc. Everyone thinks it's so funny but it works so well. B4 all their stuff was everywhere and w/ the crate or pack-n-play in the room was just too much, plus when we got Jake (boxer) we knew the chis had to also move out of the room. Either that or knock out a wall and make one giant room.
We also have the sewing machine and a desk in that room but they don't mind sharing. Don't worry everything can push back or is put away in the drawers when we are in there and at night & during the day they are in their "houses" so they aren't able to get to anything the shouldn't.
So if you are the crazy animal lady, I guess we are the crazy dog house.

While your danes will always prefer your bed,(they love to be with you, that is their nature.) you might try laying down on their beds and encouraging them to join you. (trust me they will join you)I did find our dane asleep on the guest bed a few times. I would keep their dog beds in your room so they have options, they know they can still be close to you if they want to. Cute Idea
