I think you'd definitely be covered with that amount.
....At least I hope so, cuz I'm gonna go cry if they're really that expensive. :lol-sign:
No, kidding! LOL
I've been picking up little bits and things for New Puppy for quite some time now. If I see something on sale I'll pick it up, and quite a bit of stuff I've gotten for free through other people or have left over from fosters.
I have a puppy size crate, a small collar and a BIG collar, a leather leash, a nylon leash, a 30' tether, a 10'x10' kennel and a 10'x6' kennel (I'm thinking using them as fencing if I'm ever in a place with a yard and no fence), a small prong and a big prong, a bed, and a food dish. It can share Chloe's nail trimmers, brushes, toothpaste, treats, water dish, and plush toys.
I have the basics pretty down pat. There are still a few things I want to get as general dog supplies, but I think I'm pretty much set for most things for New Puppy. I'll likely pick up more toys and treats, and probably another collar...but I won't
need them.
I think the only thing I'll really be paying for is the initial purchase price of Puppy, and then vet care (which, since I work at a clinic, is discounted - and I don't plan on altering right off the bat, so that won't be a cost I'll have to deal with). I do all of my own grooming, and I also really don't plan on doing puppy classes. Training classes, potentially, but not right away. Food will probably be an extra $30 a month, depending on how much it eats. LOL
I think the first year I had Chloe, she cost me around $1,000 for everything. Vet work, emergency vet work (had quite a few of those...), spay, food, supplies, puppy classes, grooming, etc., etc. I remember that, because in order to help convince my dad to let me get her (I was a Junior in highschool at the time) I had to make a budget to show I could afford to care for everything she'd throw at me and not make my parents pay.
