I owned a corgi for 15 years and he was about the best dog I ever had. All of the ones I have been around have been incredibly smart, fun loving, independent little dogs who don't know they are little dogs. My guy was the best guard dog and even though he was small he would have given his life to save mine. He did have a problem with kids toddler age and younger. Older kids he loved though and he was great with all the animals that came through my life including cats, other dogs, horses, hamsters and guinea pigs. He was also a great farm dog and a wonderful trail riding companion. I have seen corgis at hearding trails and in the top competions of agility as well. They do need alot of time when they are young to get them well trained and socialized. If you haven't figured it out yet, I LOVE these little dogs. I hope to get another one one day but right now I am still getting over the loss of my 15 year best friend. Good luck with your new dog. I hope he gives you all the eyars of joy that my buddy gave me.
