I have been working on contract for one company. It was busy, but of course now has slowed to a death crawl. I did have a set schedule and extra hours, but that got cut off because the kids are back in school. When I was available, didn't get much for hours, and was told 'don't expect much, it's slow'. Fine. Asked if they could give me a schedule just so I'd know when to be there for them as well as plan around that, but it didn't happen.
So, took a temp job, and after 2 weeks got offered to stay full time, which I decided to go with.
Should I have given notice with the first place, even though I'd worked two weeks without a call to come in at all? Or is it contract work on both sides and no commitment?
I figured since they weren't committed to give me any set hours or even any hours at all, I wasn't committed to say I'd be working elsewhere and not available for those hours.
