I wasn't really expecting to be back this early but something bizarre happened today and I guess I just need your opinions.

Three years ago today my Dad died of lung cancer. The night of his death I got a call on my cell phone (while at home) but there was silence on the other end. When I checked my call log it said the call came from my home phone which I know didn't ring because I had it with me. Tonight I got the same call except there was background noise (voices that I couldn't hear well enough to hear what they were saying or of they were familiar).

Is there any way that this could be a technical thing or could this truly be something from my Dad?

I just want confirmation or some kind of explanation, this day is not a good day anyways and something like this just makes it hurt worse :(

I think it possibly could be your dad telling you, that he is ok and in a better place. At least i beleive in that type of thing. I think it may be his way of trying to reassure you. But could also be a technical problem. I almost erased this thinking i sounded stupid....

Depends on what you believe in. I personally would say no it wasn't you father, but if you believe in spirits and ghosts then go with that. I'm sorry you're hurting :( (((((((HUGS)))))))))

I'm just sorry you're having a sad and bewildering day. Is there any way to trace the call through the phone company to find out where the call came from for sure? I think anything is possible too, even though I tend to lean toward the technical abnormality in the phone line or something first. But who knows? I just hope you'll feel happier and more settled soon. So sorry for your loss.

((((hugs!)))) I would say it may have been your father trying to tell you that he's alright and in a better place. Many bizarre and unexplainable things happen, I believe in them, not everyone does. My friends mom died about 1 1/2 weeks ago and on her funeral on monday, in an inclosed church, while her father was telling her story there was a sudden, very strong gust of wind, and there were no actual windows, this made everyone wonder.
So maybe it really was your father.

Sometimes some very strange things happen where we can either find a "rational" explanation for it or wonder about the strange coincidence. (like it being three years ago exactly).
Since we will never know as long as we are here, it is a matter of what you want to believe...

I am sorry you had a rough day... I hope today looks better already! ((((((((HUGS)))))))))
I would also say, believe what you want to believe in. I don't really believe in ghosts... but I haven't experienced anything like that... so you never know.

Thank you everybody for your opinions and support, it really means a lot to me.

I'm still not sure if I believe it was him or not although I am leaning more towards the idea that it was (I'm not sure if I actually believe it or I'm just trying to make myself feel better). It seems like too much of a coincidence that this has only ever happened two days that I can remember and for it to be such a significant day.

Dober, I think I may call the company and see if I can get a list of my phone records to see if anything comes up.

As far as ghosts go I think I do believe in them, especially after hearing some occurances from my step-mom from after the death of my Dad.

Today is going much better, I went to the tennis courts this morning which is the place I feel closest to my Dad (the last thing he got for my before he died was my first racquet), and I just feel like it is going to be a good day :)

My brother desperately misses his son and still searches for signs that he is still around him. He gets comfort from being touched by memories or scents, coming across items that belonged to his son when maybe he's feeling down. He is a strictly rational man in every other way but shortly after Daz died, my brother was sadly playing a PS football game that he and his boy had played many times together.

Having played this game many, many times with Daz at his side, neither of them had ever noticed on the ad banners that run round a football pitch an ad for Dazzer - whatever dazzer is in the mythical world of this PS game. Who cares anyway? To Dave it was a message from his beloved son whose nicknames were Daz and Dazzer.

He doesn't look too deeply into these things. He just takes comfort from them.

I am so sorry about the loss of your father. It is a dreadful thing to go through. Maybe it was your Dad saying, hey sweetie, I'm still here with you. If that comforts you, don't look any deeper. I felt my Dad around me for many years after he died - maybe just as many years as I needed too. ((((hugs))))

I'm glad you're having a better day. I think that's great that you have that racquet from him. It's good to keep him close to your heart in any way that comes naturally to you. (((hugs)))

skyboxer, I too take comfort from things that used to belong to him or that we used to do together. He was a huge John Wayne fan and I still take comfort in watching John Wayne movies.

Thanks Kase and Jessie today is definitally a better day :)

((((((((((((((HUGS)))))))))))))) back to you Dena, I'm sorry for your loss :(

Thanks Dober, tennis has truly become a therapy for me. My Dad also instilled in me a great love for history, we watched an immeasurable amount of the History Channel over the years :) . I find it uncanny that the person whom as leant the most support to me and whom I have great trust is my History teacher/tennis coach, I met him 3 months after my Dad's death, that seems like a little more than coincidence to me.

Sorry about that Fruit bat, I don't usually think to check my PM box that often.
