Ok,

I was on infodog.com looking at some potential shows to go to over the summer and *possibly* show in. What confuses me is that at the same location over a spread of a few days, different Kennel clubs are listed as being the "show holder/giver". Does this mean that each day is considered a separate 'show', even though it's at the same place? Also, that essentially means you can enter you dog in a class at each show/day?

And at other places, the same kennel club is listed for the same two days at the same location, but with different judges on different days. How does this work? Can you enter you dog on both days or just on one day?

And is the 'closing date' the deadline for entering that particular show? And am I correct that you can only enter your dog in one regular class (Puppy, Bred-By, ect)?

Sorry, but I'm genuinely confused!!

Thanks!

Hi -

It can be really confusing at first, trying to figure it all out! And for me, after 17 years, I still get confused when I enter under some other kennel club rules (like going to Canada to a show).

When there's a two or three day "show" it is actually a new show everyday. Sometimes it's one club offering 2 or 3 shows in a row, and sometimes it's clubs that get together and share expenses to offer these multiple shows. But each day is a different show - and in SOME venues, they can actually have two shows on ONE day. For instance, I'm going to shows in Canada that have six conformation shows in three days (two each day). This is listed on the premium, though.

There are usually different judges too. Some titles have to be earned under so many different judges, so it's important that you show under various ones. So when you look at a show that includes 2-3 days, you do enter daily and you have to pay full price for each day as each day is a separate show.

Your entry must be received by the closing date/time or it will not be accepted. You can't get away with late entries in most venues, although there are some that allow it with an additional fee. But AKC doesn't.

As far as regular dog show classes, you can only enter your dog in one class. You can double up if you enter in a brace too, or some other "non-regular" classes. But for the regular class (working towards a title) you enter just one. Puppy classes are great if you have a puppy because the judge takes into consideration the age a bit.

Hopefully this has helped a bit! *L*

Thank you for clearing that up! Holding multiple shows like that at the same location sounds very convienent indeed.
