I was curious as to where most of you college students buy your text books.

Do you buy from the college book store? Or do you get the isbn and order online to save $$? Or have some other method?

We normally go with the isbn and order on Amazon for my son.

Amazon for me as well. Way WAY cheaper then the collage bookstore. Plus, I've had classes where we barely cracked opened the text book during the semester. At least this way I know I didn't pay full price for nothing.

I've had to use the college book store before for certain books :( can we say OVERPRICED???
But mostly I use Amazon. Or borrow from friends! Found one on freecycle one time, so after I was done with it I cycled it again ;)

I can't speak for your bookstore Dekka, but the difference between our bookstore and Amazon is about 1/2 the price

Seriously, the last text was 198.00 at the bookstore and 97.50 at amazon.........plus free shipping and no taxes, LOL

Amazon is 10-40 dollars cheaper. But some of the classes require multiple books and the bookstore will do up packages for a little cheaper. And there is the issue of texts that amazon doesn't have.

Oh, I wish our book store did this!

I've paid 15 bucks for a packet of papers stapled together. When I opened it, I realized it was 5 papers... not even front and back.
We used 2 of them in class.

I use Amazon or Half.com. Problem I'm running in to is the difference between Amazon and my bookstore is rapidly declining as I go and in some cases the book I needed wasn't even on Amazon.

By the by Dekka, ya'll use the same Genetics book we do lol. Different ochem book though.

The genetics book is really basic, haven't cracked it all semester, have you found a use for it? That organic text though ROCKS.. It is amazing. Makes things so simple and understandable. Wish my analytic text was 1/2 so good.

I used the bookstore for the comm. college when I was there because Amazon didn't have a lot of the books I needed.
At university we had this amazing thing called textbook rental. Super cheap. Everybody I know wishes their university did textbook rental because it was the best darn deal ever.

Nope, never bought it. Just recognized the cover from a friend who did. The prof didn't even teach out of the book, just off power points so there was no point. No idea whether the information is of any use or not.

I usually bought mine on half.com. Sometimes I procrastinated though and then I had to buy them in the book store. but our book store books were a LOT more expensive.

So far his bookstore has been significantly higher, if there were just a $10 difference or so, I'd just have him grab one there, LOL

Thanks for all those links Cali, I am going to bookmark for future reference :)

I buy from the bookstore, i actually reserve all my books and coursepacks (what Dekka was talking about with the packages of what you need for the course) ahead of time and check the little box that says used books and it cuts the price dramatically.

With the courses i'm taking so far though i don't need to buy alot of stuff as the books carry over from class to class so i like that :)
