I haven't used anything but nice nylon collars on my dogs in years. Cloth is more comfortable, and choke chains do nothing but mask the problem they're supposed to cure.

I wouldn't use a choke collar on a small dog. It could easily injure your little guy. My three have nylon collars, though we do have a choke collar....haven't used it for a little while.

I wouldn't use a Choke Chain on a small dog. Also, the Choke Chains are NOT to be left on your dog. I think of them as part of the leash. NOT a collar. So yep, just stick with the collar you have.

I have a nylon one on my pup.

Did you see that episode with the Houston ASPCA where the German Shepherd X puppy had the chain collar grown into her neck? They had to sedate her in order to cut the links out. I could barely watch it was so bad, and then they did not even try to prosecute the owner?!

If used correctly, choke collars can work well. But as said earlier, they should not be left on and should not be used on small dogs.

Agree !!! They should be used only in training ( and after being taught how to use them) ...a gentle leader is good for a pulling pup when walking. I've always had goldens and prefer a rolled leather collar for the longer hair for everyday dress. Of course when we go to bed and I remove it, I always say "time to undress!"

I always take my girls' collars off. The jingling of the tags is annoying for all of us, and it's more comfortable for them with 'em off. I would hate to sleep with something around my neck.
