My sister is going to take an agility class with Liberty tomorow and the trainer apparently said to bring a buckle collar for the class. I really got scared and really upset because I herd that buckle collars pinch the dog around the neck and that would really hurt Liberty. So that was really scary when my sister said that. Turns out the trainer and her were thinking of. But, I'm not sure if it is a buckle collar. The same day that we got it (last Saturday) my sister said that what I concidered a buckle collar was a choke collar, but I know it wasn't because I've seen a choke collar. We actually had to use one on Liberty when he was a puppy. Just wondering, how do you tell the difference between a choke collar and a buckle collar.

Also, Liberty licks his feet a lot. It's no big deal to me, but my sister, we're twins by the way, lectured us about how it is an obsessive compulsive behavior, which she explained like I didn't figure it out on my own. She didn't suggest anything I think would work. Is there anuthing I can do to work on it so I don't get lectured by her again?

I think you may have your collars mixed up.

A buckle collar is made of nylon or leather and buckles together.

Maybe you're thinking of a prong collar? You would NOT want to use a prong collar in agility.

Thank you so much. I see now. :) Wasn't so quick to trust my sister. I had seen a choke collar and probably got really confused.

They tell you a buckle because if it should get caught in a peice of equipment the dog will not get as sever corection for doing something right, also it LESSENS the choking risk if it should get caught.
