Hi Everyone! I'm starting to clicker train my 6 month old female Chihuahua, and I was wondering if anyone else doing this (or is going to start) would like to share tips, tricks, etc. Feel free to contact me on MSN Messenger.

Hi Melissa, and welcome to Chazhound! Do you have any pics of you Chihuahua? What's her name? Clicker training is a fun and effective way to train, and I encourage others to try it! I think the most challenging part for owners is to get the timing right. Its good to practice; I think some people "get" it easily, and other's just don't at first . . .
here's an example of some success I've had not too long ago; check it out :)

Feel free to contact me on MSN (on profile), or PM me here on Chaz if you have any questions or anything ;)

I hope to see you around the forums!

Hi and welcome. I'd love to see pics of your Chi too! I have two Chi's, a Doberman and a Pit/GSD ? mix. I love clicker training...very fun for all and extraordinarily effective. I don't use it for everything but when I do use it, it sure speeds things along. The dogs get so much more involved with the process of learning, it's incredible.

What books or sites have you seen? What got you started on this? If you need any book recommendations, ask. There are tons of great trainer/behaviorist authors out there who are very familiar with clicker training. Karen Pryor "wrote the book" on clicker training.

What are you doing so far? How is it going? I wish you the best. Hope you can post pictures soon!

I got a clicker back in my puppy class, and hated it. I grew older and a little wiser (I hope) and am a convert.

Has been magic to teach my foster dog basic commands, and amazing to work on heeling and weaving with my baby girl. I think the behaviours came faster and easier with it.
