Even if it does help to prevent HIV, I still think that the benefits of a natural penis out weighs possible benefits of a circumcised one. Just my opinion.

It is.
National Organization to Halt the Abuse and Routine Mutilation of Male
The powerful personal story of one mother’s haunting regrets about allowing her own judgement to be overruled by medical personnel. By Toronto writer Diane Mason, this article appeared in the Globe and Mail on June 10, 1999.
And it only links to other biased sites

Look at these

I read an article about the cancer. I have never heard it before though so i'm not really giving much credit to that.

I think that it is very beneficial to the boys to have it done. It prevents infections and is easier to clean. Only if our religion didn't allow it would be the only reason that I would not have it done, but since our religion does, if my next child is to be a boy it would get done.

I dont really think you can compare that? like I said in an earlier post, when I was a kid a friend of mine had to get it done at age 9 or something because of infections, my brother almost had to get it done as well for the same reason. It's a simple procedure that can prevent problems in the future. I dont have a problem with people NOT doing it, I also dont have a problem with people doing it. I think I would definately consider it because my hubby and stepson both are.

yeah, I'll pass. The reason people get their child circumsized is for health and also personal reasons. I just don't think that they want their son looking any different than their dad or other children. Not to sound sick but I'm guessing they want their boy to fit in, if you get my drift.

Wanna bet? What do you think happens to something like 70% of all females in Africa and other Islamic nations? Female Genital Mutilation. And it's totally different from male circumscison. In males, it's essentially removing extra skin; which, once healed, has no adverse effects on the rest of the male's life. FGM however, takes away the inner labia, the clitoris and the outer labia is sewn together with only a pea-sized hole left for the urine and menstrual fluid to come out of. Somehow women are still expected to peform their wifely duties and bear children. When the time for labor comes, the labia are split apart long enough for the child to be born and then resewn. All this results in massive pain and complications for the rest of the woman's life, unless she is lucky enough to move out of the country and find a doc to do some reconstructive surgery. In African countries, this surgery is most often performed when the girl is between 8 and 12 years old, depending on the onset of menstruation and is carried out with a rusty razor blade or unsanitzied shard of broken glass. Infections galore and I think the current stats are 1 out of 8 girls die from the resulting infections or complications.

Rottie girl do you understand the anatomy at all? If you are asking why women get them done then I kind of doubt you do. Women getting them done opens them to infection and imo is not even a circumscision in the sense because it is nothing like a males. A woman circ is the equivalent of cutting everything off except the neede parts like the testes, just leaving a stub I guess. cinemax had a good show on it once.

Speaking from a nurses viewpoint; There are more reasons to have it done than religious. Nothing against mens hygene but less infection if it is done. And it really is not fun to be an adult an have to have it done because of infection. It can also facilitate spread of std's.

Vega, the reason it started was it was causing infections when babys started wearing diapers more.It apparently wasn't a common thing when prepackaged diapers were not common. It didn't protect but kept it in one spot were the infection could build."The foreskin comprises as much as half or more of the penile skin system and has three known functions" The penile skin system would be the skin on the penis nad I promise you it isn't half of it. I've never heard about it preventing cancer though  I don't think anyone claimed that. I've never heard resons such as preventing masturbation so it really has nothing to do with it. All that was proved wrong because it is. The only guy I know thats uncircumsized said it does nothing but get in the way,but insurance doens't cover getting it removed. thats all I have to go on for the forskin brigning pleasure.

And like I said before, the skin not being there prevents the spread of whatever the guy may have as well as preventing him from picking something up. It would be a good article to look up but we went over it in class. I think it was a study on circed and non in africa were aids is rampent.

Bottom line is as a parent you can do what you want. there are reasons for it and against it. None of the reasons you listed are relavent but I guess you would be against it then :)
You’re arguing with history on how it started. Circumcision does not prevent HIV.
Circumcision has risks:

-Excessive Bleeding
-Infection
-Complications from anesthetics
-Surgical mistakes, including loss of glands and loss of entire penis
-Death

Many Circumcised males suffer from:

-Extensive scarring
-Skin tags and skin bridges
-Tearing and bleeding at the scar
-Curvature of the penis
-Tight, painful erections
-Difficulty ejaculating
-Impotence
-Feelings of having been violated
-Feelings of having been mutilated

All circumcised males lose some or most of the sensitivity in their glands and all of the sensitivity in their foreskins.

Who says it prevents HIV? Only way to can prevent HIV is by not having sex or sharing needles with someone who has HIV.
