Two of my nephews are the only "humans" that I have left to shop for. I have no idea what to get them. My sister wasn't much help. She told me to get them gift cards. However, I was thinking that when we have Christmas at my mother's house, everyone will be opening presents from me and it isn't fair in the least if they just have a gift cards to open (;)), when my other niece and nephew will have actual toys to open from me. I need to get them something. However, I have no idea what to get a 7 and 3 year old. I have no children of my own so I don't really know what kids are interested in these days. My other sister told me what to get her kids, who are 10 and 9 so I didn't have any trouble with them...lol

Anyone have any suggestions? What do average 7 and 3 year olds like nowadays???

Legos?

My husband insist they are the best toy and that you can never have too many of them.

Yes he would like some for Christmas this year...LOL

For the three year old, the puzzles with the big wooden blocks are good. Also the little people playsets. The toys are usually pretty well labeled with suggested age ranges. Find something that says 3-5 so they can grow into it.

For the 7 year old, I'll second the lego suggestion. Hotwheels sets can be fun too. Not sure what the hot movie is this year, but the dress up sets for that super hero (spiderman mask and web slinger, etc) usually go over pretty well at 7.

For the 7 year old how about K'nex... they are along the same idea as legos but you can make things that move... ferris wheels, cars, etc... as well you can buy add on sets so you can keep doing new things and it is something he/she could use for many years.

I agree with you about gift cards they seem so blah... i know they are the new thing to get but its like handing the person money. I would rather someone spend 5 dollars on my present and it mean something than hand me a 100 dollars

Thanks for the suggestions!

I think that I'm going to go with Legos for my 7 year old nephew. I really don't have any idea what he's interested in. He used to LOVE dinosaurs but I don't think that he's into them so much anymore.

My 10 year old nephew is really into Lego sets...like Legos Star Wars sets...those are too pricey for me...but the do have the smaller sets that I think will be more manageable for a 7 year old that I think that I'll get him.

PoodleMommy- I never heard of K'nex...I just googled them...I'm going to look into that as well...If you can keep adding on to them...I like that idea.

My 3 year old nephew I still don't know about. I'm not very kid savy...as I don't have any of my own...lol My sister in the past, always had me get him clothes...but...I think that he's getting to that age where he will want something to play with. I don't like buying clothes for kids as gifts...I remember when I was a kid, I hated getting clothes when all I wanted were toys.

For my 9 year old niece, I got her an iCarly season 1 DVD...I have no idea what show that is...but whatever...lol I guess its something she had on her Christmas list.

For my 10 year old nephew, I got him video games for his XBox.

Whoo Legos! I double and triple that suggestion.

Or Transformers. Or Legos so he can build his own Transformers! That makes a fourthing of the suggestion.

I'll add that last year I got my cousin's son (he was 2 and 1/2 I think) these little Made in America plastic helicopter and airplane. They were really cheap only like $2each (I also got him clothes, but thought he would like a toy to open), and they were like his favorite toy from all his presents.

So for the 3 year old I wouldn't be to concerned with getting anything fancy.

OF all the favorites at my MOm's, (she ran a daycare in the home) fisherprice just about won out. My son still has his clock http://www.fpclub.org/ bottom of the page, it plays grandfather's clock song, and i had mine for a long time, it last forever the song is nice. THe record player where you can put records on is just about indestructable and was a big hit with the 3 year olds too.

record player http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=120342207673

7 is harder, but there is a kit to make just about anything.
