Poll to follow...

I'm currently decorating our first real tree ever. I like the smell, we got it from a local farm (like 15 minutes away from us), and when the season is over we don't have to use valuable space to store it in. Also, the city turns them into mulch after Christmas. The fire hazard element does bother me, so we are taking steps like covering the bent that's a few feet away from the tree, using LED lights, and making sure to water it very regularly.

I grew up with real trees, but we currently have a fake tree.

Michael grew up with fake trees and hates real ones. I'm the opposite. Our compromise was when we have kids that are old enough to enjoy going to a Christmas tree farm, walking around and picking out a tree to be cut down, that's what we're going to do. Then we'll switch back to fake when the kids don't care anymore. Lol

We used to get real trees but have had a fake one for a long time now. I miss the smell and I miss the tradition of going to pick out our tree every year the day after Thanksgiving :) But the fake ones are okay too I guess lol.

I've always had real trees growing up and husband has always had fake. Together we've had real trees but this year we decided to do a real tabletop tree because puppy.

I like real trees! I like the experience of picking one out & I like the smell!!

When we were young, we had real. Then as we grew, we went with fake. Last two years we had real, this year went back to fake.

I regret it. I hate our tree this year.

I've never had a real tree. I don't think we have tree farms around here? SO was very against a real tree even though the cute real one was $15... I could not convince him.

I grew up with fake trees...as a kid we had one you needed to assemble branch by branch and I remember helping put it together. Then my dad bought one with fiber optic lights throughout...it was really pretty.

The last three years, my parents got real trees. Not sure why the switch! I haven't decided what I'll do on my own.

I love real trees! They smell so good! Our first year here we got a real one that we could plant later... It lives in the center of our small backyard (why, DH?!) and the dogs have chewed all the lower branches off for funsies...

We have always gotten real trees and I do not like fake ones. The experience of going to get one is awesome, they're a little different every year. You have to take care of it which makes it a little more special than just another decoration. Plus it smells good. I'm sure my parents will go fake once I move out, as it is my dad has an awful time getting on the ground to water it (my mom can't at all) so I do that most of the time.

We always did real until last year. So much less mess with a fake one, and the lights are already on.

I am a grinch though. I would prefer zero tree. We really don't have the space. It just gets in the way.

We have a fake one... I love real trees, but not the mess, plus, you know, saving the planet and all that (and my cats have always been way too interested in real trees).

We had real ones when I was a kid and I just remember the cat in the tree and needles EVERYWHERE on the carpet. And we have carpet (which I hope to get rid of soon). Plus our fake tree is set up in 2 minutes and looks gorgeous.

Both have their advantages. I like the cost factor of a fake tree. Get one you like and its good for years. We used to live down the street from a tree farm. I got some gorgeous trees there.

But the convenience of going to my store room (its in my apt) grabbing the tree and it 5 min have a pre lit tree ready to be trimmed is nice. I don't have to drive for ever or pay a fortune for a tree. Lack of mess is also nice.

I didn't this year but in past years I have got some pine boughs so the smell is there but its a smaller mess.

Prefer real, but we've had a fake for a while.

Hate it. When I've got my own house, I will have tiny baby trees in every room dedicated to a fandom (SPN, DW, TW, Percy Jackson, etc) and a nice big real tree in the living room.

I prefer real, but when we put up a tree it's out on the three-season porch rather than in the house and I can't really enjoy the real-ness of it. So we do artificial.

My daughter is 16 years old. She is adamant that we never have a fake tree. I mean she still shames me for the year I got a prelit lodgepole pine tree one from Hobby Lobby. And somehow even though the tree is stored in the guest room the cord to the tree has been chewed in half by the dogs... hmmmm...

So last night we went and got our non-denominational wintertime cheer tree. Tonight we will put it up. It is real. A Frasier Fur. Not one of my favorite types, but I did not go and get a Carolina Pine which is my favorite.
