I just got a text from my sister saying, "Chloe saved my life."

We live out in the country and have lived there for the past 17 years without any issues. There have been times we leave the door unlocked because, well...we're in the middle of nowhere. This evening, my 17 year old sister was the only one home. I'm not exactly sure where she was when it happened (I imagine upstairs) when she heard the door open. And so did Chloe. Two guys just up and walked into the house. Chloe, of course, would have none of that and went barreling down the stairs barking. One of the guys said, "Oh, ****, a dog!" and the other said, "Run!" and they took off.

I can't even imagine what would have happened had Chloe not been there. The thought of my sister in our house alone with two men robbing it...let's just say I am insanely glad we decided Chloe would make a poor apartment dog and should stay wig my family instead.

Hooray for Chloe! (The neighbors have been informed and the sheriff's office will be called shortly.)

Wow that's.... scary! Hows your sister doing?
She's doing just fine. I know my parents are now on high alert, though. And mom is now even doubly anal about me, because I'm living on my own without a dog in an apartment in a not-so-good part of town. I told her that's what a gun is for, but she wasn't too impressed about that, either. lol

This is why I really like having a dog that is protective of the home. Dogs that just love everyone and everybody as soon as they walk in the door...not for me. In the 15 years we've had dogs we've never truely needed a protective dog, but I'm sure glad we had one around when we did.
