Wow, did they ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I don't feel an ounce of sympathy for the guy either. Look how many animals he has killed not to mention how many people were harmed, just so he could make a few extra bucks.

Er.... he was fired in 2005. He's not responsible for the contaminated glutens.
At least not directly.

That doesn't mean much in China, the question is: what DON'T you get sentenced to death there for?

Holy cow! The death penalty? I'm sure all the other officials are doing the same thing, so that seems unfair. Like he's just a scapegoat for the rest of the (equally corrupt) Chinese government. "We don't have to root out corruption in the government, we already got the guy . . ."

Frankly, I think they're just trying to get the US to keep trading with them.

Either way even if it is just scape goating it's a fairly stern message of what happens when you get caught cheating the system, so to speak.

Scapegoating or not at least somebody is being punished and it's not being entirely swept under the rug.

It's not all that unusual to see executions in China for "shame". But you are very right, Sharky. For one thing, scrap melamine is auctioned off to be ground up for use in pet foods, so it's not an isolated incident attached to one person. He's the scapegoat.

Yes he's being punished, but since when does the lives of dogs & cats count for more than the lives of a human? Even if my dog had been 1 of those affected, I still wouldn't want to see a person executed over the ordeal. Talk about AR activists having a field day with this.

Too bad no one seems to be mentioning the reports that melamine has been found to have been in use here in the US for fish foods & food for other aquatic animals (it's used as a binding agent to hold the ingredients together).

Personally, I'm kind of upset that everyone thinks this guy deserves to die for them losing a cat or dog. If that's the case, we should execute all those who feed their dogs pieces of chocolate should that dog die or those who feed their dogs cooked bones only to have the dog develop pancreatitis or whatnot. Heck, those owners were doing that intentionally as well despite knowing that it's wrong & unsafe to do so.

 yes that's it... the AR activists... I think you may also be forgetting the human rights activists.

Speaking of things that are to bad though... it's really to bad you were so busy looking down your nose at the rest of us to read the whole article and notice that he's been approving drugs that have results in HUMAN deaths, has somehow let 450,000 food production companies continue to operate without having a lisence to do so and that nearly 60% of the food production companies lisences or not, do not test for quality control nor do they have the means to do so.

But I'm sure none of that has anything to do with him being executed or his inflated bank account... must be all to do with the melamine

And as has been pointed out, executions in China are frequent... and if you give some thought to it which would you rather have there... an execution or a life sentence? (because hey your directly or indirectly responsible for multiple humans death so you're not getting a fun little slap on the wrist and a fine).

In one instance, an antibiotic approved by Zheng’s agency killed at least 10patients last year before it was taken off the market.

We're never going to have the death penalty for corruption, no matter what the effects of that corruption are (unless, of course, it's treason) but when you look at the effects of some people's action, it's awfully tempting to think we should. And what's with this silly idea that 'everyone was doing it, it's not fair to 'scapegoat' one man'? That makes no sense at all.

I wasn't looking down my nose on anyone, Ms. Know It All & Authority on All Forum Members.

I was only commenting on the fact that people were glad he was being punished by execution for what he did to all the animals.

For his role in the human deaths, his punishment fits the crime perfectly.

Good... I'm glad to see he is getting executed. An eye for an eye.

And it wasn't ONE dog or cat who died... it was THOUSANDS. Not to mention the humans that died as well from antibiotics that should never have been put on the market.
