Chico Is Sick! Need Help!

Since Sunday Chico has not been feeling good. On Sunday he threw up twice. Yesterday he threw up twice again and at night my dad let Chico outside and he threw up again. Dad siad that Yesterday morning he trew up blood. But the second time he trew up that day there was no blood and same for when he threw up yeserday. Dad also said that last night Chico was very restless and was crying in pain because his stomach was hurting. He is feeling alittle bit better but did not eat anything yet but drank some water. The vet only opens around 9:00pm tonight and my mom will be working at the senior home which is her job. Tuesdays and thursdays she is only open at night and Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays she is open in the morning. I am starting to think that Chico has gastritus. Every morning dad feeds him a peice of bread. He gulps down his food instead of chewing it. He also has a habit of chewing on garbage. What could he have that would cause him to throw up alot? What should we do?

I tried telling my parents that we should take him to the vet ASAP but they won't listen to me. They said that If he starts throwing up again then they will take him to the vet. Even though now he seems to be back to his old self and has been playing with Bruno alot and being very rammy like he usually is. But we are still keeping an eye on him in case he starts getting sick again.

If he's not eating, then he's probably not drinking and that means he's dehydrated. If he threw up blood he should have been at the vet the day it happened. He needs to go to the vet, pronto.

Since Chico's last visit to the vet a couple of weeks ago and he has been doing fine until today when he threw up twice today and now was pooping blood. But he hasn't been acting like he is sick. We collected his poop and at 9:00pm tonight when the vet opens since my mom will be working, my dad will take Chico to see the vet to find out what is wrong with him. I hope that it is nothing serious like Giardia or Parvo.

Wll Dad and Chico just got back from the vet and she thinks something that he ate that has been making him throw up and causing him to have blood in his stool. So she gave him two vaccines and he will be on pills for a while. She also said for mom to call the vet tomorrow to let her know how Chico is doing. We will be keeping an eye on him for a while to make sure he is okay and in case he throws up again and starts pooping out blood.

Chico has been chewing on Calla Lilies so that might of caused him to start throwing up and have blood in his poop. What should we do? How do we prevent him from chewing on ths poisonous plant again?

Yeah, I'd say get rid of the plants! Or if they're houseplants or potted plants, you could put them up somewhere out of our dog's reach, or always supervise him when he's in the room with the plants. If they're outside, you could put a small fence or some kind of barrier around the plants so that he can't get to them, or always supervise him while he's outside.

You have to remember in situations like this, that Chico likes the plant. He enjoys eating it and likes the taste. So to try to train him not to eat it would be like training him not to eat a bowl of food on the floor. He could learn to do it relatively easily as long as you're directly watching, but as soon as you turn away or leave the room he'll try to get it again.

Good luck!
