Hi everyone:hail:

please keep the puppy mill comments to a minimum. I have three rescue dogs and one breeder dog. Plus the new puppy. Puppymill dogs need homes as well and if someone can afford the potential pet problems then they could 'rescue them'.

I recently got a Chi puppy from ( i know i know) a petshop.:yikes: She was literally being caged to ship back to the breeder( dealer?) , and we all know what happens to them there. She isnt from Hunte but im sure she is from some kind of puppy mill. The pet store was in CT and they feed Eukanuba canned food to their pups. Which is included in the recall, but I have no way of knowing if she ate any of the actual food( because i never saw the wrappers) but she was there from October 06- five days ago. She is not really acting the way my other puppies have acted. She is somewhat lethargic ( sleeping ALOT) but she will get excited and play with the other dogs. She will walk willingly for a few blocks and back, and she is eating and drinking . She does pee less than any other puppy ive had. she literally will pee 3x a day... but multiple times each outing. I dont know if she is self preserving from not wanting to pee/lay in it in the cage or what. Im taking her to my own vet ( not the stores) later this week. She could be peeing a little here and there when i dont see... im not sure... but she seems pretty housebroken in the aspect of there is little to no pee any other time then outside. this morning she obviously had to pee ( she peed 3 large for chihuahua puddles) and poop( decent sized) but she didnt wake us up or cry ( she sleeps in the bed already because she never goes inside). She was constipated when we first got her but that has worked its self out mostly with quality organic dry food and a little bit of organic stew mixed in. Im convinced its either the recall issues, bladder stones ( but in a puppy?) , or something else. She had all her shots by the time she was 4 months so i know its not parvo, lepto or anything else along those lines.

Sorry this was so long. Help i guess?

How long have you had her? Maybe she's still adjusting. Or maybe she doesn't drink much water. Or it could be a UTI. Lots of possibilities, really, so I'm glad you're taking her to the vet. It's normal for dogs to pee multiple times during a walk.

what store did you get her from?

im in bethel ct, not too far from you...

my first thought with the peeing is UTI, very common in petstore puppy females (not quite so common in males)
shes also going to take a while to settle in, remebr, shes spent the first few months of her life in a cage with little human interaction where all shes had to do all day is sleep, itll take some time for her to settle and get used to the fact she now has a loving family and warm bed.

i guess i cant PM... :)

Charlotte is from puppy love. She was in the 'deep discount' bin because she was supposed to be over 5 1/2 months old :yikes: . We considered it a rescue. . . but when we took her to the vet ( we use dr. mixon at newtown animal clinic, he's great btw) he said her teeth put her at more like almost four months old. So who knows. we have a photocopy of her pedigree and thats it, the actual packet of papers? we got a 'dont worry girls we will find it !' from the owner. I used to work at Petco in brookfield and then at TLC pets in Monroe ( the kennel and grooming place) so i know all about not buying from petshops ect.

It would be fun to get our chi's together! are you a member of meetup . com? We also belong to a group called no kennels, its a petsitting coop and we love it dearly. its www.nokennels.com ... or .org. :)
