Edit: Fort Dodge Animal Health sent a letter to veterinarians earlier this month recalling 330,000 doses of the vaccine Rabvac 3 TF, serial number 873113A.

"Because the batch of vaccine in question only lasts two years and most the clinics received it in November 2004, there's a five or six month window to give veterinary hospitals and their clients time to come together to resolve the problem," said Dr. Tony Henderson, a local veterinarian.

Pet owners can also check the rabies certificate they should have received, which lists the manufacturer and serial number.
