WOW.........that is a low price! If you are using it in the fence, I can't see the harm in that :D

Don't bother with them. I bought 3 in a town while we were traveling and decided that was a good deal too. LOL if you don't want to loose your dogs don't get one. The clips that hook to the collar broke first time out on Whiskey. Then the other two quite retracting after 2 uses. Guess you get what you pay for lol. Lesson learned there. Thank heavens I had my good leashes. I just thought those would be handy to keep in the motor home lol WRONG.

yeah we got one for the cocker when we first got him, after 2 uses it stoped retracting, then the casing promptly broke open, after many attempts with various retractables the only ones i trust are flexi

What's the catch, well the last time I saw someone using a retractable leash it was after the 60lb dog had seen Duke and I, barked, lunged at us, snapped the line and came barling down towards us. If you ask me there a lawsuit waiting to happen. Please do everyone a favour, don't buy those pieces of crap.

If my dollar store was selling $3.00 retractable leashes, I'd go buy some. I'd use them for other things. Like I'd attach one end to a toy, reel out the cord, throw the toy across the yard. Then when Loki goes for it, I let my thumb off the brake. Zip! Or use it as a really big, really long key reel thingy, like the kind that maintenance men hook to their belts.

It'd probably hold a chihuahua, but it won't hold a sheltie or larger dog. Those things are crap, but like Baha said, they make good dog toys!

If you want a retractable just invest in the flexi brand. They're sturdy and long lasting.

My friend bought one for his JRT once along with one of the leather studded collars they sold as well. The collar gave her a nasty skin reaction and the retractable leash broke the first time she went after a squirrel. Not worth the money...

Thats a good idea!! I think we have one of the cheap ones around here somewhere, I'll see if I can attach a toy or ball to the end of it. My dogs love to chase things, I'm sure they'll love a toy like that! :D
I agree with the Flexi's. Definatly long lasting! (Or atleast ours has been)

I've used the one for large sized dogs on Missy in the past. She doesn't ever strain against the leash, and if it did break she has a reliable recall, so I don't worry too much.

Petsmart is supposidly having a big sale on their collars and leashes, though. Haven't been there to check it out yet
