To whom it may concern,
In the last year we, here at the Chazhound Dog Forums, have experienced a lot of growth both in the size of the user base and the activity level of those members. We were not sure if we would be able to sustain this rate of growth indefinitely and, in fact, we came vvery close to having to shut down for good on several occasions.
So with this view of the state of things we are happy to inform you that The Chazhound Dog Forums have been bought by Purina, Incorporated, and our funding worries are over! There will be a few slight changes, but I'm sure that the majority of you wont notice at all.
First, for obvious reasons, all posts regarding pet food will now have to be moderated. Because we are backed by our corporate sponsor, Purina, we need to make sure that we present them in a light which is beneficial to the sponsor in regards to multitude of potential consumers that visit the site. I'm sure this will not be a problem, seeing as how it's already commonly held around here that Purina is a top notch company that makes pet foods of only the highest caliber.
Second due to space limitations we will be dropping the size of the in boxes for private messages down to 10 messages. We don't foresee this to be a problem since you can export your messages in various formats through the interface. I'm sure that you'll have no trouble at all looking through saved XML files to find the message that you're looking for to reply or quote from.
Third. As an attempt to recoup some of their costs in regards to running these forums as a public service, Purina will be requiring a very inconsequential fee of $1.00 per 100 forum posts, and $1.00 per 25 photos. Also due to bandwidth limitations they have asked us to disable signatures altogether. And because of their generosity, we will of course be complying. Also in an effort to promote more thoughtful discussion posts after the changeover date will have a minimum of 1,000 characters. We will also have to do away with the Fire Hydrant altogether.
Fourth all current members, and any new members will be subject to random screenings wherein they will be required to come down to our sponsors headquarters (at personal expense) for a rigorous interviewing and background screening process. I'm sure you will all agree that this will help keep the posts on the forums up to the highest caliber possible by eliminating the undesirable bad apples amongst us.
Finally any disruptive behavior, complaining, or speaking poorly of us, these forums, or our new sponsors will leave us with no choice but to add your names to your local governments terrorist watch lists and the international no fly lists. We hope you understand that this measure is only for the greater good and our national security.
So, as you no doubt have surmised by this point you should see virtually no difference after April 2nd, which is when the change of ownership occurs. The transition should be easy and painless. We sincerely hope that you understand, and we wish you all a truly exceptional continued tenure with the Chazhound Dog Forums,
Yours Truly,
Chazhound and Purina Farms
