Yeah, how dare they not want to pay for other peoples' pregnancies! The nerve of them.
Or IDK have reasonably priced self pay insurance most of which do have some sort of pregnancy restrictions.

Don't you just love paying for other people to have babies?
OR Idk more places can have a office like I went to with Savannah that had all kinds of medical care and they had a sliding scale system where they base your fees on your income and family size. Sadly not many places have that option and insurance companies usually dont cover maternity until you get it through a HMO.

Maybe we should IDK concentrate on fixing the insurance system in this country.

Can I just say once more how happy I am for Canadian healthcare?

Oy, good luck and hope you find some support!
Lucky! Australia has universal healthcare too, right? This is one reason I think Obamacare is such a good concept. America needs universal healthcare.

If your work does have insurance but only for FT employees, maybe you could "buy in" to it? Not sure how that might work, but iirc now the insurance companies can't exclude preexisting conditions, which pregnancy would be, so it might be worth a look.

You might also look into midwifery care; from what I've heard they often seem to be more likely to work with clients on payments for care.

eta: No matter how you slice it, we all pay for the care of others. Whether it's through our insurance premiums when we are healthy or through taxes that go toward Medicare/Medicaid. I'd much rather have my money go to preventative care than paying for serious treatment for conditions that could be caught with said preventative health care, and that applies for everyone, not just pregnant women. ;)

The ones here do. Sadly the one I love couldnt take me. They are alot more flexible and IMO better care over all.

With Jeremys work you HAVE to be classified FT we tried a bunch of ways and spent hours on the phone with HR. Hes been there 4 years working (up until lately) close to 50 hr weeks quite a few 60 and they do NOT have to make him full time in the computer.

Start shopping around at hospitals now and find out what they charge for cash (often A LOT less than what they charge insurance companies). Then you can start making payments or saving up a lump sum.

Our hospital had grants and stuff available for women that used our office and payment plans for before and after that they could base on what you could afford.

One more thing in regards to insurance. We live in a country where it is cheaper and easier to insure a vehicle yet most people cant afford to insure themselves. Its also ILLEGAL not to insure a car. Yet most of the country does not want to come up with a way to fix it or see a problem with it.

ETA: our homes as well.

Right now I'm trying to figure out insurance, I have none. I am going to a "Pregnancy Support" place tomorrow to apply for Medicaid and figure out a place to go for a prenatal appointment. Darn conservative states and their lack of medical care for poor people.
HUH? I know many people who have had their babies on Medicaid. If anything, getting set up for an OB and whatnot was 10 times easier. Then, when it's all said and done, they took their baby home and never worried about a single penny of payment.

I won't even get into how I just finished off paying Cole's newborn medical bills.....6 1/2 years later.

My sis-in-law has had all 6 of her babies on Medicaid. The last one, who will be 1 in December, she had with all kinds of bells and whistles including a birthing tub, all kinds of extra birthing "accessories", an OB and a doula, and of course all the standard care and tests.

Oh, and latest statistcs for the city of Baton Rouge showed that over 70% of babies born in this city are born on Medicaid and stay on Medicaid as children.

I've had 3 babies, and all 3 were born on different health insurance plans.

With the 1st, we had Coventry. They were awful. Our coverage was awful. The whole experience with them was just downright horrid. And then, after he was born and we were $7,000 in debt thanks to that outrageous max-out-pocket crappola, they didn't cover any kind of therapy (physical, occupation, or speech) that was the result of a congenital issue (meaning if Cole had torn his ACL, they would've covered the therapy, but since he was born with issues requiring therapy, they would've pay). So then we worked out a reduced pay and payment plan with a neurotherapy clinic....and got to pay them $80 per session for 3 sessions a week. With me NOT working.

With #2 and #3, we had United Healthcare, but different plans for each (due to hubby working for different companies that just so happened to both use UHC). LOVED THEM! I can't say enough good stuff about my experience with them as our insurance company. We had good coverage. They were awesome to talk to when any issues arose, and they took care of the issues without putting ME in the position of "middle man".

Now we have BCBS. We have good coverage, but I wouldn't say they are all too pleasant to deal with, but I think I've thrown the gauntlet down and now they are playing nice and by the rules. Our insurance premium went up with the passage/approval of impending "Obamacare", but as it is, we pay $380 for me, hubby, and the 3 boys for medical, dental, and vision. With medical, we have a $500 family deductible ($250 per person....which is higher than our UHC, which was $150 per person and $300 family). Once we hit the deductible, it's a 90/10 policy (they pay 90%, we pay 10%). We do have copays with this policy ($15 for regular docs, $20 for specialists), whereas we never had copays before...just paid our 10%. We have a family max-out-of-pocket of $3,000 per year. If we should ever hit that, insurance covers 100%. All pregnancy related stuff is covered. Much oncology stuff is cover. Dental covers 2 cleanings a year, up to $2,000 for fillings, et. and up to $2,000 for orthodontics (braces). With vision, we get the required eye exams and any required follow-ups and 1 pair of glasses per person per year (costs us $25 for the pair).

And fwiw, pregnancy cannot be considered a "pre-existing condition". Trust me, been there, done that. Hubby's insurance changed on the 1st of May, and #2 was born on the 22nd of May. A slip-up in HR had us thinking I would not be covered immediately due to the pregnancy, and we panicked. I started making numerous phone calls and doing my research, and in the end, all was well. Since the federal government ends up picking up the tabs on pregnant woman, somehow someway insurance companies are forced to NOT put pregnant women in the "pre-existing" category.

And more fwiw, Cole has numerous pre-existing conditions, and never once has he not been covered due to them. In fact, it's never been an issue despite going insurance companies 3 more times since the first one we had.

A cramps that feel like menstrual cramps normal? I'm not bleeding or anything, I just get a cramp every once in a while that's not too terribly painful, just make me kinda go "ow" and then it goes away.

Figured Id post some pictures of how I put the prefolds on her and that kinda thing

Close up of the diaper

the see through thing poking out of the top is a flushable liner (the thing MM was asking about) she didnt end up pooping that diaper but I will use it again. Things have just been hectic this morning. The diaper is also too small I had to order bigger and Im waiting on them to arrive. It works and it fits but you obviously want it closer together on the front.

You will then put a cover over it. These and fitteds are NOT meant to be diapers ALONE they NEED a cover. (figure its common sense but I have had people tell me they just used a prefold without knowing any better)

A cover:

The diaper cream. The jar on the left is full and easy to use. You CAN use the tall ones but one batch of the stuff will only get you half the jar.

I have two different jars because one is Lavender and Vit E the other has Tea Tree Oil in it because we have been fighting a yeast infection caused by allergy.

Here are some other types of cloth as well:
Hybrid (this one is a Grovia Ai2) The pad snaps into the diaper and as long as just the pad gets wet/dirty you can reuse the cover. If its pee you can rinse it out and hang it up and before you need it again it SHOULD be dry. Then wash at night.

what it looks like together

Pocket this and prefolds/covers are MY favorite. Alot more customizable for your child:
Diaper and insert. The insert slides into the diaper like you put something in your pocket.

Ready to be put on

Fitteds

Ready to be put on the baby (you put the fitted on like a regular diaper and then the cover on over it)

Your options with covers

There are All In Ones basically they are a entire diaper no extra steps but they are $$$$$. You can also get wool pants, skirts and shorts that go over the prefold/fitted instead of a cover.

Ill do my carriers tonight. They are in the car besides one.
