I thought I'd share with you our recent events :(

It's going to be 3 weeks tomorrow that Charlotte died and our vet, the one who treated her, hasn't written a report for me. I requested it in order to go to the place I got her and make them see what had happened. But this is Costa Rica  and I guess all vets are the same. He probably doesn't want to have problems with his colleague, so he simply ignored my request and never wrote such report for me.

The day after Charlotte died, the vet that sold her to me called my cell and asked how Charlotte was doing. I told her she had died the day before (what a coincidence for her to call the very next day) and she said they wouldn't be responsible for her death without a report. I told her I was going to get one very soon, and then I'd decide what to do.

I did tell her that she hadn't died because of me, or because I didn't take proper care of her. I told her I was a responsible owner, and I had had her treated immediately after I discovered she had a fever and something was wrong. I told her she wasn't handled correctly, and she died because something had happened to her the past few weeks but she denied everything and said Charlotte had been with them for 2 weeks and she was perfectly fine.

I was still hoping our vet gave me that report to do something but that never happened. So I wrote to two TV stations and a newspaper here. One of the reporters got back to me, and said they were starting an investigation because breeders over here are so horrible, and told me a couple of terrifying stories. She even said puppies get sold when they are only two weeks old, but they tell people they're a month old and that's why they die so quickly. She said she would be in touch but hasn't so far.

The newspaper published my note yesterday in the Opinion section. I expect the pet shop to reply because I don't think they keep quiet about it.

I'm sorry for the long post, and thank you very much everybody for being so supportive during these three weeks without my baby :(

Thanks, guys. I know you all understand my pain because we're all dog lovers. What I can't believe is what some people are doing, and they call themselves vets :(

(((hugs))) to you. I hope something can be done about all this mess! It not only makes me angry, but extremely sad that people treat animals that way, but 'handle' people this way as well. You'd think your vets would be more sympathetic... :( I hope something comes good out of your efforts to change this . . .

Rest in Peace, Charlotte

Exactly my thoughts, Brattina... You'd think your vet would be more serious about this, he's treated Blondie for almost 3 years and a half and knows how serious I am about my babies and everything. But he let me down, as well. I think I'm changing vets now. Blondie deserves better than this.
