Who runs your household?

If you've ever wondered who's in control, you or your cat, a new study points to the obvious. It's your cat.

Household cats exercise this control with a certain type of urgent-sounding, high-pitched meow, according to the findings.

This meow is actually a purr mixed with a high-pitched cry. While people usually think of cat purring as a sign of happiness, some cats make this purr-cry sound when they want to be fed. The study showed that humans find these mixed calls annoying and difficult to ignore.

Yeah, we didn't need a study to discover that. :p

My late Sammy used to come in my open window at night and *wail* to be let into the hallway (at 4am). I trained the dog to lick him when he did that, so instead of wailing he'd climb onto my headboard and push stuff off onto my head.

"annoying and difficult to ignore." lololol

He's stopped doing it now, but our kitten named V would wake us up every morning about 6 am to play fetch. He trained us well, because we almost always gave in and threw his milk jug rings around the room half asleep. :p
