Okay so with Zeke in the house who isn't as big a fan of raw or canned as Buddy is, I have to buy more kibble. Right now I'm doing canned (various types, all great quality) in the morning, and kibble in the evening. (Buddy gets raw a few times a week, but Zeke isn't a fan of the idea right now).

I'm leaning between: Orijen, Acana, and Fromm Surf and Turf. Ultimately I'll rotate between varieties, but I'm just figuring out which to start with. I pretty much know what I think I'll decide on, but I'm curious as to what others will say.

I've tried innumerable high quality cat kibbles and I keep going back to Wellness Core. Hands down best results ever from a cat food.

Bad farm bred cat, doesn't he know farm cats are supposed to devour everything put before them? :rofl1:

I vote Acana.

I would recommend whatever is grain-free. One of my cats has feline lower urinary tract syndrome and it started with her system being stressed from too much carbohydrates in most of the available kibble diets for cats. I know Ancana and Orijen are low grain or grain free, but still higher on carbs than cats need. I hope this helps...

Both Acana and Orijen are grain free. I can't see getting less carbs that orijen unless you went raw/canned which she mentioned he won't eat.

All three of the foods I listed are grain free. Acana is slightly higher in carb content than Orijen, and Fromm's Surf and Turf falls somewhere in the middle.

Thankfully while Zeke may not be a fan of raw, he'll eat any kibble I put in front of him, so switching is easy! Canned he's fussy on, it needs to be pate I've noticed, or he leaves all the chunks behind. I am enjoying learning about all his preferences though :)

Haven't had terrible results with CORE, but everyone I know who has fed the regular wellness kibble (cat and dog varieties) has had to deal with PooSplosions and vomit. It does not seem to agree with animals well at all. Even the one cat in my house with a stomach of steel (he could eat half a block of cheese with no issues) could not tolerate it.

Nilly, I'd suggest you go with whichever has the protein source similar to what he is already eating. JMO.

I have tried Acana Prarie Harvest for cats. She packed on a whole 1lb and her coat started falling out. Its less calories than Core, so alls I can figure is the more carbs did not suit.

TOTW made her shed like crazy and have nasty dry skin.

Yeah I would not feed a cat the regular Wellness. But thats just me, I think its overpriced for being full of grains.

The last grain inclusive cat kibble I fed was actually Kirkland Signature and that sat really well with them actually.

Unfortunately, I don't know what that was :( I got a small bag of his food (which I was told was TOTW), but when I asked what formula I was told that she rotates and wasn't sure what one it was. He's used to rotation, so I figure it's okay to switch.

I picked Acana Wild Prairie to start, we'll see how it goes.

Zeke sheds like CRAZY, so I'm hoping this and the inclusion of more wet food will do better for him.

My cat was eating California Natural but then it was agreeing with him. He is now on Halo and loves it!

I recently switched my two to NV Instinct from Verus and they're doing geat. Both have lost a bit of extra weight and I do notice less shedding. Out of those three you mentioned, I'd personally go with the Orijen.

I rotate my cat between the SurfnTurf, and all the varieties of Orijen and Acana, as well as a few other ones (Nature's Variety, Nature's Logic, Go!/Now!, and CORE), so I'm afraid I won't be much help! I would say just close your eyes, point at one, and start with that first, and then rotate through them.

My three all eat Costco Kirkland. They are healthy and glossy, including 16 year old Buggy. He is still playful and frisky. I sometimes think I should switch to grain free, but so far have just stuck with what is working.

That's basically what I wound up doing ;) I do plan on rotating quite a bit, I'm thinking Surf n' Turf after the Acana. We'll see.

We tried a new canned food today, called "Hound and Gato". It's pretty awesome.

Oh I'm glad she liked it! She deserved some super nummy food right now!

I tried mixing the Hound and Gato with a bit of raw, trying to convince Zeke that it wasn't there. He wasn't fooled ;)
