It's been there for at least 3 days now. It feels hard so I don't think it's a bite, but could it be? Any ideas? Thanks.

it could be a bite. but still should be checked out.

My moms dog recently had a lump on her neck and went to the vet and the vet says it looked like a spider bite and then had gotten infected.

Okay, thanks.. I think I'm going to wait a few more days though to see if it improves because I've been to the vet countless times lately and I may be worrying over nothing. Oh, and I don't think it's ringworm because it's a lump, not really a ring.

My parents dog had a bump on his leg that started like this and over a week or 2 it grew to about an inch diameter before she took him to the vet. It ended up being a small benign tumor and the vet just had to remove it. It was not a huge deal.

I'm no expert on dogs, but I know a thing or 2 about people medicine which I imagine is at least similar to dog medicine. If it's not bothering him, then wait and watch it. If it does bother him, or if it keeps getting bigger and bigger, then have it looked at.

That's what I'm thinking, too. It doesn't seem to be growing, but it's not getting smaller either. I'll just wait and see. If it doesn't go away in a few weeks or if it gets bigger, I'll definitely have my vet take a look. Thanks! :D

is your dog licking it a great deal? IT could be a granularolma (sp?). Bronki had one. They don't know what caused his, and i was given an ointment to put on it. Was not suppose to cover it but he would not leave it alone so i did with a sock. It eventually went away but took some time. It was a hard bump much like that but he licked it raw.

I'd say that it's a hot spot due to a bite ......... licking will only make it worse . I'd say you needs meds for it .

I wouldn't mind taking her in if they agree not to charge me $40. I just want them to glance at it and tell me if it looks normal or not. If it's something that needs to be treated, then I wouldn't mind paying the $40 for a visit, but it's ridiculous to pay that much and then them just say, "Yeah, it just looks like a bite. It should go away soon."

Yeah, unnecessary costs that I'm not willing to pay at the moment.

Yup, just wondering what people thought it might be. As I said, I'm going to take her in if it doesn't go away or gets worse. :)

UPDATE!!!!!

I took her to the vet today to get it checked out because it was still there and bled a little last night. It's a benign tumor that should go completely away in about 30 days. He said it's normal for it to secrete blood and if its looking really red, I can just apply any anti-inflammatory cream on it like hydrocortisone. :D It's good to know it's nothing bad.
