I can't decide which sport to do with Belly. I might do both but right now I'm trying to focus on just one. I either want to do Agility or Flyball. Which one do you guys think she would excell at? By the way , if you're wondering why I don't really seem intersted in tracking ( because she's a beagle), it's because I'd like a more fast paced sport and because there aren't any clubs near me. I'm also intersted in Canine Freestyle but I'd much more prefer the other two.

Well it depends, if she is a ball-happy zooming kinf od dog, fly ball, if she's a dog that's always on the move jumping on to chairs for launch pads, jumping on to the bed, running under tables and through legs, then agility is her sport

Well, first off you have to read the dog. How old is she and what kind of training, if any does she have now? If I was you I would take her to a trainer in the area and do a lot of studys on both sports. You need someone with exp to see, work and handle the dog. I would also advise taking the dog to the Vet and having her hips looked at first as both flyball and agility can be hell on the legs. What kind of line was she bred out of? Was it a show, pet, or working line? Although she will work no matter what, bepending what line she came out of will make a big differnce on how well she works, depending how far you want to push it.

Beagles are my breed and I have done, weight pulling, tracking, agility, flyball, Sim sports and OB with them. At this time I work most of my beagles in Sim rabbit and fox pinning. All my dogs get fully OB trained on and off lead befor I do much of anything with them "sports" wise, I would recomend OB training your dog, it builds a very stong bond between dog and handler.

No matter what one of the two you diside to go with, just remember to stick with it all the way and dont expect things to happen over night. Truth be told Beagles are not pros at either one of the sports you named as there not bred for either one, but they will do just fine with the right handler and trainer. It really depends on you, give them a good diet and tons of exersize and time. Diet is very important with Beagles as they can be fat dogs, being over weight in these type sports will hurt then, not only there health, but there proforance. Take the time to get your dog on a good food.

Even though she's only a puppy (12 weeks) I don't plan on doing any serious activity in whichever sport until she's about 1 year old and her pallates(sp?) have closed. Whichever sport it is, we'll work slowly on it and keep the jumps low and her speed slow. I don't want to take her to a trainer because all the trainera around here are nutheads who rip you off. I looked into a few classes last month and most of them either hit the puppy when they do something wrong or charge hundreds of dollars for them to learn sit, down, stay, and come. I do plan on joining a club of whichever sport. Once I find the right sport, I'll do as much research as possible on it. Right now I'm just kind of looking at both. Belly has a little of everything in her (show, pet, and work) although she was bred mostly for temperament and conformation. Belly is a very smart pup and already knows her basic commands (sit, down, stay, come, heel). I really don't care if she wins or not in whichever sport, I just want us to have fun and bond :D Thanks for all your help Nashville :)

Agreed.

Just remember that one of the most important times in a dogs life is puppy hood. Let the puppy be a puppy, dont get into a hurry to rush your dog. I like to start my dogs at 3 to 6 months, it really depends on the dog. But, every one should always let the dog be a puppy first, let it live out puppy hood. This is very hard for alot of people, it was for me also. Every one wants to be proud of there new pup, but it will come, you would be shocked what great things you can teach a dog, and fast too.
